Yah, Twisted Hobbys (which is a great outfit, IMHO) has been teasing us for a couple weeks now.....

Brad, if you need a testor for a micro that is just a "run of the mill" poor pilot, I'd be happy to assist.

Just put my crack lite together...might be a little bigger than what I'm used to. Excellent quality.

What are peoples thoughts on running a 3s 850mah lipo in the edge 540qq?
If they work i'm gonna fly more scale sport flying with these ,should get great run times if the airframe will carry them.
My LHS has these lipos on special, almost giving them away
I'll get some 450s for 3d stuff too!
cheers

This beauty has totally made my Christmas!

Big boy features in a mini package.

*Hollow-molded foam construction with carbon fiber reinforcement
*High-speed digital servos and Spektrum™ Nanolite receiver installed
*High-power BL280, 1800Kv outrunner power system installed
*High-performance custom propeller and matching spinner
*Two-piece removable wing with carbon fiber joiner
*Magnetic battery hatch provides instant access
*Ready-to-bind to your DSM2®/DSMX® transmitter

Going to be so easy to upgrade.

4S should be easy as pumpkin pie.
Motor?
Props?
ESC?
Servos?

Simple!

Those massive surface throws in the vid, make me want to shout with joy.

Thanks Quique!!

RC,

so you are you thinking that all of the stock electronics need upgrade for 4s, or are you saying they will all work for 4s ? ESC is 10amp.

what weight of battery do you think would work well?
max out at 60 grams so as to not affect performance ?

450-500 3s tend to weigh 43-57grams.

I think 800 3s might be too heavy at 69 grams.

recommended stock eflite lipo weighs 42.5

ah yes I just found your previous post---perhaps I was doing selective listening/reading and forgot you mentioned that--wait till I till the kids that.

Aussies have to wait to January?--- now that's not right !

okay Horizon listen up

May all have the plane released at the same time !
Please and thank you

the following is totally off topic. any idea why Aussies and Kiwis often say "reckon", but its mostly a southern/Appalachian thing in the US ?

Tim,

UMX Sbach 3D:

Wing Area: 65 sq. in.
Flying Weight: 75g.

My V1 Sbach weight without batt: 56g.

Lil bro just reported that she flies very well on the new Hyp (2S) 400s.
Mine are 22g.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=981

Edge 540QQ:

Wing Area: 162 sq. in.
Flying Weight: 235g.

60~70g batt will probably fly ok at best.

Time to beg Hyperion for a (3S) VX 500!

I second the motion!!! The Spitfire has not even officially landed in Canada yet. (And we're just up North from you). As usual, a few canadians hobby shops have them, but they likely get their stock from a sister hobby shop in the states. The big chain stores like Great Hobbies didn't get any yet. So imagine the small single LHS...

My Rear Bear burned up a 20amp esc with an external BEC on 4s, so if you want 4s I'd get a 30amp.
By the time you add a 30amp esc and a 4s pack you'll have defeated the purpose of all the weight savings designed into the 540QQ and made it into just another fast sport flyer and if that's what you want I'd save $80 and get a Funfighter because they go 80mph on 3s 850s and 120 on 4s with a simple prop change....

Just say'n

yes hyperion 3s VX 500 would be great

currently there is hyperion CX 450 w/o balance plugs @ 42.5g
hyperion CX 550 @ 47g

other 3s choices under 60 grams
eflite 450 30c 450 42.5g
zippy compact 500 35c 57g
gens ace 450 25c 53g
nanotech 460 25c 45g
thunderpower 480 25c 42g
thuderpower 730 25c 57g

so rc, as you mentioned last week, your 3s lightend hyperion babblebatt would be a great idea
