Anyone know how to get this unit that will track a moving object?

Hi!
I saw this movie and was wondering if anyone knows more about the tracking unit the wakeboarder has on, allowing the camera on board a mikrocopter to follow him?

Cheers,

Fantastic. Took me a while to figure out why there were tall poles and wires.
Then I noticed there was no boat !

When you think about it, it's not all that tough. The military call it "convoy following" and essentially all you have to have is an autopilot or stabilization system that has an RTH (return to home) function. You just need a real time GPS reading that will constantly update/transmit the new "home" position via a radio modem. It effectively just updates the "home" position to the autopilot and it merely follows it.

Sure looks like they are comfortable flying some expensive gear over water!

Would Eagletree's Eagleeyes antenna tracker work? If the "target" wears a tx with an Eagletree OSD and gps, the eagleeye could be placed on the copter. After all, the Eagleeye doesn't know if it's on the ground or in the air, panning and tilting an antenna to follow an aircraft, or panning and tilting a camera to follow a target. Presumably it tracks the object by knowing where the gps unit is in relation to it's own geographical placement. Or have I misunderstood?

Looks quite slow to respond and not very accurate. Even at quite a height it's losing him. Maybe it's how he has programmed it to give you a stabilized picture?

I've seen camera tracking before in other areas, most of the really good systems seem to process the image with software but you need to carry a computer along with you.

It won't be too long before a simple iPhone will have enough power to do it in real time so I expect someone is developing a system already!

DubWise

there's already an android app for the MikroKopter (& some othere multicopters)
called DUBwise
some of the things u can do with it are.
  • display several Info-Pages the MikroKopter provides (high, heading, ect,)
  • view RC-Data ( channels )
  • display Power / RC-Status, initial Piloting interfaces ( ACC & Multitouch )
  • Interface for Flight-Settings
  • View all DebugValues - look at several Values the MK Provides - some are in the LCD too , but this method is faster
  • Read & Edit settings
  • draw Graphs with Nick integral / Roll integral / Nick acc / Roll acc - to check if the Sensors are working proper
  • Cockpit-Screen with Artificial Horizon
  • test each motor
  • Connection via Bluetooth and TCP/IP ( with QMK protocol )
  • Write/Read/Edit mixer-tables
  • Voice output for important values ( Voltage , Height , .. )
  • View position and orientation of Kopter on a Map
  • Draw FlightPlan and upload it to UFO ( + read / write to MK )
  • BlackBox function ( write csv )

& it Seems that using your mobiles onbored GPS & Bluetooth, You Can Tell the Kopter to Follow Your mobile

i have not tested the app myself yet
as i dont yet have a multicopter,
