*** R/C Trikes and Ultralights ***

Forum Name: Radio Controlled Trikes and Ultralights

Topic: Electric Flex Wing (Trikes and Ultralights)

Category: Flex Wing - Electric

Description: This forum is for the discussion of Electric Powered Flex Wing Aircraft.

Trikes and Ultralights Reference:
Any wing Size
Weigh: Any weight
Control: RC or IR. Servo or Actuator controlled.

Trikes and Ultralights, in standard terms can be defined as models that mimics the control and flight characteristics of real Trikes and Ultralights. Because this is a brand new forum proposal, size classification is not importantt, at this point. Types of Trikes and Ultralights can encompass, Rogallo Wing, Ultralights, Nanolights, Microlight, Trikes, Hangliders and similar "Flex Wing" type designs. This is not a hard bound definition, but a reference.

Justification: This is a very interesting area. Modeling of such types of ultralight aircraft can be very relaxing, perhaps a change of pace for the need for speed. See www.micro-flight.com under Fixed Wing Tab, for a glimpse of this area of modeling.

Moderator(s):

I have accumulated enough material along with a good ammount of working models, illlustrations, photos, etc. for generous discusions in this area of modeling. In the past few years, I have provided samples on similar subjects through posts here at E-Zone and RC groups under Electric Flight and Indoor Models.

If there is a need, and if this forum is realized, It would be an honor to moderate this forum, and continue to promote and expand on " Radio Control Trikes and Ultralights" models.

I have made similar proposals to other RC forums. I feel it benefits people, the more options available.

Crash, you just voted, I think. We need to have more people at least 20 that are in favor for a suggested group. The rules are explained in the New Forum Request section. Pass the word around to let others know this is taking place here.

Mario: I would be interested in this topic. I have followed several of your projects. I suppose Hardlock's Carbon Falcon would fit, due to the 'wing warping' control scheme he employed.

I vote that we start a new forum for each and everyone of MIA's products. After that, lets let Mario be the forum foreman here on Ezone. Kinda the moderator of moderators. I have a couple of forums I would like to reccomend..One just for Coronas, and another for GWS products.

Sounds like an interesting forum. You might want to post in a few of the other forums to get people in here to support this.

Mario,
I, too, am very intrested in these aircraft. I would like to scratch build one, but dont have the time or resourses. I really like the smaller model and am looking forward to seeing come out as a kit. (soon I hope).

If you are in terested in hosting this forum/thread I am in favor of that. Seems you have some expertise to share.

Good Luck, Dave

Count me in.

I still have my Robbe SkyFlex.

Not sure if there is enough interest in the subject though.

Some years have passed since I made that first thread and posts on the MIA Trikes. For A or B reason this Forum nerver took off, but my love for Trikes and ultralights, in general, remains strong. I have created a MIA Museum where I intend on placing all MIA work with RC models, including RC Trikes and Ultralights. Curretnly there is a video that comes up but you have to tun on active x controls to view it. Have Fun!

My dads got a weight shift microlight (pegasus quantum 912) and he has built one before (full scale) from huntwing plans.
ive been into them since i was very young and LOVE them!!

last year i started building a rc microlight having never seen one and i was pretty sure it was possible but not 100%, the wing being the most difficult bit.

i started a mock up of the trike out of cardboard, final design would be in wood of some sort,
have you guys seen this video on you tube?

Rogallo (2 min 18 sec)

i saw this and its got me motivated to finish mine off, its stunning how realistic that one looks in the air!
shame the pilots abit too big but i could live with that

ill post pics of my rc microlight trike later

mark

edit: this is a really old pic and a rough mock up just to get the shape,
gonna start making it from wood now,
might even go for a big nitro version with a modded lexan t-rex canopy as the pod
