I can see again!

Had the Cataract removed from my left eye today after being legally blind in it for the last five years. Funny how the world looks different now, maybe I can finally do those perfect loops and up lines again and landing should get a whole lot better.

Congratulations! You're braver than I.

I've got one in my right eye that the eyedoc said would need fixing when "it bothered me enough". I'm just curious what symptoms you noticed in your flying as it progressed. I think my lack of depth perception may be caused by this. As in, lined up and coming in for a perfect landing, except I'm on the outer edge of the strip every time these days.

However, It's only "blind" when the lights dim.

After my wife and my cataract surgery including Toric anti-astigmatic lenses at $1500 each ( not covered by Medicare/insurance) we can see well at a distance but need glasses for reading and PC. Still have some astigmatism in one eye. BTW, cataract surgery is not a scary/painful thing for most patients. They deaden the eye and ask you to stare straight ahead but it is not critical despite all the disclaimer paperwork you have to sign.

Hey starcad. An option if you are having trouble landing is get the plane to do it by itself. Not cheap, but could save you money in the long run. It is on my wish list.
Check out RUBY. I love the idea....

Actually, when FMA first released the Co-Pilot I use one to land a trainer hands off at a fun fly here in Tucson. I just set it up on final and set the throttle and a little up trim and put the transmitter on the ground and walked away. From around 500' out it settled right in to the center of the runway and all I did was pick up the transmitter and taxi back. It was a kool demo and turned a lot of heads at the time.

I was out early this morning and found that my depth perception is coming back by the hour and after a visit to the doc this morning after flying they determine I should be back to 20-25 in around a week in both eyes. Flying was a blast today as I could see all the things I've missed the last 5 years.
