Thx for the offer - but I'll try some 3bladed props first.

Goodluckbuy has a Multicopter section now:

I ordered 8 3-bladed 5x3 for ~10Euros shipped.
They usually ship fast within 7-10 days.

Most props at HK are on backorder and I don't want to wait until Xmas to get that baby airborne...

Nice one, Nils!
Somehow I find it easier to fly curves clockwise...

Here's another one of my boring videos. This time it's the FlyduQuad with 8" props in heavy winds.
I nearly had a flyaway!

Hi all!

I hope you can help me with something! I have a Quadcopter build out of a Jakub J Foldable frame, a Flyduino, 25-30A ESCs, 3000mAh 3S1P 20C battery, and RCTimer 850kv motors with Pauls 10"props. The quadcopter is doing a fine job, but I'm extending things to it like Pauls GPS BOB, FPV Transmitter, OSD GoPro, Dummy Dome casing.. in total my quadcopter now weights about 1.2kg. And with all those things attached It can't bairly get into the air anymore!

Please can anyone help me with what I need to change to get it up in the air again, how do I get more lift! Do I need a different battery? 4000mAh? or 4S? or 30C? or higher power motors? more kv? bigger props?

Thanks for helping me out and sorry if I'm asking something stupid

Cheers,

Ramon

Well ... with 10" props on a 3s lipo the motors should have a thrust of ~800g each.
So your copter should easily take off and act quite agile.

Have you tried different lipos? And which ESCs do you use?

dont know the motrs that well, but as kinderkram said i am sure it should lift up.
May the ESC are calbirated in the wrong range? Try to calibrate them over the Flyduino, may, may this helps.
For heavy Quads i recommend the CF reinforced, but the Props itself should take it, may a few more KV will do.
If the 2 lipos behave the same, they should be ok, but i and others encountered 2200 as the favorite size for quads.
Also hab 8" quads which wont take the 3000, they where flying bad with it, with 2200 it was fine.

on my 8" quads the flight time wasnt much less, as the weight was also less.
But i am not sure, your 3000mAh should be fine and the total weigt looks ok for the specs you have.
Anyway you flew it before and it flew well, you added weight and it got worse, hardly cant imagine there isnt enough power, but it may is, as far you described.
Taking 12" is may a bit too much for the motors, but maybe worth a try, what do the others think?

Do you guys think I can get more power if I switch the battery to a 4S version? Will I get more lift from that?

Sure you will. While the motors can handle 4S your HK ESCs are specified for 2-3S. So the fun won't last for long...
