JLT_GTI, sorry for asking, but why keeping the transmitter's antenna like that?

Of course at 50 m you should have more than 30 even without an antenna probably (!), but just for experiment, try moving it vertically and see whether the values change.

Thank you renatoa. I definitely should do this to set my alarms in a more systematic way.

Uhm actually no, with the actual configuration I am not having this problem (and I don't do FPV): sure I'd have changed the values if I had had that issue.

Probably you fly LOS then, rarely going under 60 when flying LOS.
Maybe you are fooled by the logarithmic nature of the units, distance double for every 6dB. If you are at 500m and read 60, this means at 1km you should read 54 60 is not as low as you could believe, and be afraid

Actually, just purely theoretical, for two stationary, not moving systems, the db values reading should evolve as this table:
1m - 110
2m - 104
4m - 98
8m - 92
16m - 86
32m - 80
64m - 74
128 - 68
256 - 62
512 - 56
1024 - 50
2048 - 44
4096 - 38, and failsafe

When moving, the above changes a lot ! antennas misaligned by 45 degrees (plane banking) led to 3dB loss, i.e distance diminished suddenly at 70%.
Weather has also a lot of influence, GHz is eaten by moisture... if here is sun and at 2km over the hill is fog, don't be surprised to see an abrupt link break, without any warn.

Yes I was definitely not aware of such things. Thank you indeed.

Anyway thank you for the clear explanation, now I suddenly understand FrSky's default values.

What annoys me is that one day it was just like this... no reason for it to fail and FrSky has not answered any of my querys about the issue...

Finished the CP setup of plane and Tx.. 8dbi LHCP patch on the Tx (w/ 3W booster) and LHCP SPW on the receiver. Going to test the range on New Year's Eve afternoon!

This might not be stricly limited to FrSky, but anyway:

is it normal that the receiver loses the signal after a slight bump?

I had a flight with a micro foamie (wingspan 40cm) that flipped over in the final part of landing, and when I took the plane back in my hands I noticed the receiver had entered failsafe.

I had the TX close, so it must have been a 'fake' failsafe, and I had to power it (the rx) off and on again to make it work normally.

Now, the bump was very very light (and it happens quite often that such small foamies flip over after landing, especially on grass), but I still wonder whether it is normal that bumps, in general, make the receiver behaving this way.

This is not normal and completely off topic
