Hi Haldor,

yesterday I tried a special Fun version (400-26) in my Adrenalin. 7 cells 700 AR - 5x5x4,3 - 20A - rpm not measured yet.

To slow for me

In such a small plane you get a lot of wing load with this equipment. Handling (esp. landings) are quite ok but not as convenient as with a model with more wing area.

If you don't intend to race you may look for something that is more F5Dish rather then S400 and you'll get a kick ass baby hotliner with this one

Thanks for the help. Looked up Jurgen Heiligs posts and he seem to be favouring the CAM5x4,3 on 8cells (in a twin BTW) Amp draw around 20.

jschrader - yes you're quite right. The current crop of s400 pylon ships are a little smallish for the heavier FUN400 motor/cells although manageable. I am considering rolling my own ship just a little larger and more wingarea than the small ones.
I like the lines of the F5D ships tho. Maybe....
Do you have some time left over so I could get some?

So the -26 wasnt fast enough for ya? Just how fast is that? Mike think the -36 on 7cells and 4,75x4,75 should haul a** Mine is tied up in my F18 EDF however so it will be the -28 who will be a propdriver.

Happy flying!

Kontronik FUN400-28 setup

Hi there.

I have this motor and currently a Graupner CAM5x5 and 5x4,3 prop. (Grp. 30mm spinner also) The Kv=2800 BTW as the name implies.
Intent to use 7-8*700AR and CP1300's. No racing, just4fun.

Anyone tried this motor in a pylon ship? I would really appreciate some numbers/specs if any know of them. (I have expired my 30day MotoCalc trial and havent shipped any check yet )

Look for some of Jurgen Heilig's posts. his Twinjet uses these, and he's very,very technically able and knowledgable and helpfull as they come.

Bench tested the motor today - old 8x700AR pack and Graupner CAM 5x5prop => 24A@8V and ~200W peak, no rpm readings. Now I need to find a suitable pylon model for some inflight testing...

Total weight of the motor/prop/controller is 350gram (12,3oz) but you could loose some by shortening the leads - mine are stock length at this time.

1 stick with 3 and 2 sticks with 2 build a "pyramid". The yeti fits exactly (means: absolutely no room left) besides the packe in the fuselage.

Do you have wing mounted aileron servos?? It would be hard to fit the single aileron servo in the fuse with that pack.

Herrn Scrader :
Do you know of a suitable set of parameters for a hotliner around this combo? I dont have much of a feel about pylon models (what size/span/wingarea..) myself as I have mostly done EDF's.

Danke,
Haldor

@Erik
I've got a single servo in the fuse. (Should be an SES 100 or alike) It's "lying" on a 5mm balsablock. There's enough room left to fit the 7th cell beneath.

But since there's everything very tight any setup should be configured individual.

@Haldor
You may use a hotliner around 1,50 wingspan with the geared motor. Please ask Mike for suitable models and useful gear ratio. He's the specialist on this issue.

Besides: any F5D ship is a suitable hotliner as well if you can deal with 1m wingspan. With the 400-28 and let's say 700 AR you can built a real good glider which is even very easy to land.

I have used my Teufelchen F5D as a hotliner once or twice, with a speed 480 3.45:1 and a 10x8, on 7 and 8 700AR's. It was great, I could have done with some more prop though, the wing got in the way of anything bigger than 10inch diameter.
So with a geared 400-28 it would be even lighter and more powerful...
I now use the plane as a pylon plane, since it doesn't thermal very well!

I still donīt fully understand how the pack is built, and how it sits in the fuse.

Gonna do the final work on my Adrenalin today.

Jurgen - thanks. I am not thinking about a geared one yet so the smaller F5D ships might be more of what I'd like to have. Perhaps a 90cm version of the Graupner Munga or something like that. Since I have the motor and a square 8x700pack (4sticks of 2 end-end) I'd like to consentrate on a design around that. DD and CAM5x5 looks very promising regarding speed

Thanks again for all the help - any more ideas ...dont be shy
