I was on the techone webpage and found they have something called a mini neptune. I was hopping it was a small 30mm or so edf wing but it resembles something along the lines of a Striker 180Q typ shape is has a 588mm (23+in) wing span so it is slightly larger. I searched and found nothing so far. Has anyone seen this before or is this actually new?

It's actually new and some of us who are flying it's EDF big brother are awaiting to see it in the flesh.
I've been flying a Stryker 180 for a while now and am anxious to see how this compares in the air.
Servos mounted on top is a good idea and I like the fact that the wing follows the fuselage all the way up to the nose as this is a weak point for the S180. S180 is only a 17.0 in (432mm) wingspan so this would hopefully be more of a floater with 23.2 in.
Techone's site doesn't specify if it's EPO or something else....

I just sent an email to Tech One. Has anybody heard anything about this yet? I'm not a wing owner yet and wonder if there is a comparable wing like this out there already? Being that I don't have one and am just seriously considering one, is there a recommendation on a ARF that is reasonably priced, indestructible and has a good following? I'm sure the mod bug will bite later, but want to do it in steps. Thanks.

The wing wing is a smaller Neptune as far as teh wing is concerned, but uses a prop and not an EDF.

Any problems with the ESC getting hot? As usual, the stuff comes from the International warehouse. I don't know how much I'd save on the crazy S&H if I split it up and bought the kit from the US warehouse? Did you buy the kit or the PNF version? No sense buying the PNF if you're going to toss most of it.

The esc stays cool even at WOT. Get the kit version. Plus the hardware as mentioned in Junglegym's blog.

For better sound and faster performance, you can upgrade to the Dr. Mad 10 blade 50mm alloy EDF (it consumes 27a max) and a 40a Plush or Blue Series ESC using the same Zippy Compact 2200mah 4s 25c battery. I also added a 3-axis gyro in my set-up.

Maybe you have seen this already? It flew at full throttle.

Great video. Is it intuitively obvious how to cut the motor housing for the EDF? How in the world do you balance the fan on one of these?
What do you use to keep the canopy on? I've read posts about guys constantly losing them.
The EDF says it's a 4S version. It'll run OK on 3S, won't it?

The fan is already balanced when you buy the edf unit. For mounting, you just need to cut some foam on the sides and use epoxy to glue it in place. Check out the pictures posted at Junglegym's blog as a guide. For the canopy, I just use velcro on the front and there is a snap-on clip at the back side. If still unsure you can always tape the canopy before every flight. And for the battery, you would really need the compact 4s 2200mah 25c for power and also for proper cg.

Everybody like the Turnigy Plush ESC's, but for some reason, they don't stock them in the US warehouse. This one is available, but I don't know how good it is:

You would need a separate BEC for the SS 40a. That would be fine if you have a separate BEC. The Hobbyking (Mystery) Blueseries ESC's are my favourite, are also very good and at par with the Plush.
