The fact that this is the first time something like this has flown I'm happy with the results and can't wait to solve the problems and have Total success!

these are pics from the two hop flights!

You can NEVER succeed unless you try!

The overall damage is minor and VERY fixable, basically the Nose and tail had some damage.

How do you figure where to put the CG? A formula? Eyeball?

Formula. . . And comparison with aircraft with similar aerodynamics.

I might have the CG off a tad.

Oh oh
Good vidéo
Thanks for it
Thé second attempt is better but , thé speed is low for fly , no?
Foward cg?
Hand launch?
On the nose wheel would not it be too high? which would make that he has taken it to speed the nose rises to heaven

Your right I rotated to soon. . . Plus she sits on the ground with her nose with a high angle of attack.. . . I need to lower the nose a tad.

And cut down the elevator throws a tad.

I agree, that awesome spaceship was going WAAAAAAAY too slow. Maybe try a no flaps takeoff, get it going nice & fast before lifting the nose.

Also agree on the nosewheel, and looks like you could cut the elevator travel a bit.

Glad the damage was minor, should be an easy quick fix.

You make some very good points buddy. . . . I will try and go with no flaps next time. . .and her nose-high Angle-of-attack caused a stall right off the bat.

This isn't a Royal Navy Phantom taking off from the HMS illustrious in 1969 lol

Too much mass for current power set up is the culprit here.
You need bigger fan with more powerful motor to get her moving plus if you add clear plastic canards, I think those will help with pitch control. Maybe bigger wheels and slightly taller gears all around.

Sam . . . .That EDF puts out nearly 3 lbs of thrust! And the Orion weighs 2.86lbs . . . Longer gear struts are going to be added. . . . Repairs are underway!
