I saw 'em both, even got to meet Bill 'Golden' Maverick a few times (I crewed on the '67 Pro Stock Nat'l Record Holder a friend bought from Jim Waldo).
HUG put on a decent show, but never could match the sound (nor speed!) of THE Original! There wsn't none of that fancy 'rear brake steering' with Li'l Red - it was purely 'Point & Shoot'. (Maverick was just that - a hell-raiser of the 1st order!)

Anyway, rather'n leaving the readers in the dark....I went lookin'.

They say a picture's worth a thousand words -- here's a few million, & we'll let the viewers decide. (Almost teared up a bit watchin' the 'Last Ride' film *LOL*) Both have 'interesting' endings.
