COOL Rob looking forward to seeing them
![]() Well I'm glad I didn't even try to put the OS 95-V in this plane there's hardly enough room for all of the things going on w/ the 70 size engine and I thought w/ this cowlings size everything would fit very easy, but it very tight and to get the on board drive system in also?? Today I went back and cut off about 1/2" off both ends of the header and changed the angles where the fittings are and now it fits, it doesn't look like much work has been done but it took the afternoon and I still have to do the second one yet. ![]() here's what it 's looking like.

Crankshaft extension
Hi Bruce, sorry I'm a bit late with this but, I have really enjoyed reading this build. Anyway I hope the others see this before cutting their cowls, here are the links to crankshaft extensions that you and the other mossie builders can use to move their engines back and give the engine more room, these extensions works on a lot of different engines including your XL70's:
1/2" Fox 1/4-28x1/2" Long Shaft Extension 3/4" Fox 1/4-28X3/4" Long Shaft Extension I don't know how much they will help but, it's a shot. I hope I remember this build 2 years from now when I build my mossie. It will definitly help with my TF Sea Fury. Ray |

Bruce, you are a friggin rockstar! I love your work man. There once was a guy who was REALLY crazy over at RCSB doing a DO-335 build who tried to make a shaft extension about 6 inches long for the rear engine. Ended up just making the engine exposed. No shaft he made would hold up to the cylinder knocking that gas engines put out. It was a valiant effort but I think he spent the better part of 6 months trying various things. Sometimes you have the $ for RCV engines and sometimes you just go with what you have. A solid performing setup that should be able to give you YEARS of fun for a lot less up front.
