Best at which category? Flat speed, climbing, weight, watts, battery time, price, etc...

I do think Yuri might have the best in any category except price for now. But I do know someone who might claim a speed record soon....

Honestly i'm trying to decide what to put in my new yellow one; i have been reading the build thread and its not really helping because its so long between motor posts and no real descriptions of how fast its going with a particular set up.

I like hotliner type flying , i want 150 mph with 10-15 second motor runs and a folding prop. Lighter is good for the glide, duration of 2-3 min would be fine as i will be doing short motor runs anyway. i dont want to say price is no object but you dont scrimp on an x plane

yuri sent me his set up but when i put it in the calculator it doesn't make sence to me there are several "red issues"

I was hoping to get a better idea of what other x plane owners are running so i only have to buy the equip. one time and not need to fix a bad set up.

that being said i'm not opposed to used equip. if its in good order so if you have a set up that meets my goals and you want to sell let me know.

As I'm sure you know already, the mega 16/35/1 and a Kontronik KPG gearbox is the most common setup for 4S and 5S... I would get that one if I were to buy another setup for mine. Currently I use an ARC28-58-1 and KPG gear. Not bad either, but needs 5S to get going.

Red issues in the calculator mean its good I havent seen one yet that can deal with a hotliner setup without freaking out.

If you want top speed, setting it up as a hotliner is probably not ideal. Direct drive pylon racer will be the key. A 16/40 direct drive would be fun.

As a hotliner -
Run the 16/35/1 kpg 25/27 5.2:1 on 4S with 14.5x14s, and then 16x17s. Thats safe on the gear and will make you grin. If you want faster, run 5S. 4S should be fine on an ICE100 lite, I wouldnt try it on 5S though. 4S - 180mph, 5S 200+ mph (16x17s)

10-15 second motor runs will put the 16/35/1 setup into orbit 2-3minutes of motor on isnt a hotliner either, thats pylon racer material. Typical hotliner setups allow for 30S motor run time (which is plenty in reality)

A mega 16/25/2 5.2:1 on 6S (~1600mah) ICE100 lite with 14.5x14 is a nice setup too. Not as crazy as the 35/1, but not as stressfull either.

Have to buy them separately and put the drive together yourself.

I was going to say about the same things, but Jacko beat me to it.

Jacko lol on the " red issues" and yes it will only be 10-15 second motor runs so it should cool a bit between runs.

Lenny i'm probobly going to ship this to you for the build out i just want to see it first lol.

10-15s motor runs with the 16/35/1 setup will melt it, esc and battery will just go bang, and itll be in orbit

2-3s motor on times, it sounds short, but itll literally go from one side of the sky to other in 3 seconds.

My motor run on launch according to radio timer is 0.3sec
it does the trick without much of a torque roll.
Total motor run time for about 3/4 of battery drain is 25 sec.
Learned how to convert potential energy to kinetic (village people call it DIVING)
I dont use throttle more then 1.5sec in flight anymore.
I do have heat sink on my CC125 and it sits right against cooling hole.
Batt and CC are hot enough after flight but not burned.
I give it a cool time after each flight for about 15 min.
Yuri
