Yep, know that one - and the presence of the rotary key made me hope (maybe a bit too much) it would be on the X9D too.
I just find the 12D too big for an everyday radio, I'm not a "tray-type" myself. The X9D form factor is more to my taste.

Do not confuse this radio with the failed Kingmax, they just used the existing molds. Everyone should have enough buttons and knobs on this "intro" radio. I think you will find the navigation is going to work just fine also.

Does the KST radio have lateral sliders ? Nobody noticed them in my picture ?

Based on Frsky - JR collaboration - Frsky helps JR to design their coming telemetry system - I would say the case comes rather from one of the JR prototypes.
More important is how much JR ADN is in gimbals and switches

One more reason I was hoping for the rotary encoder - JR/spektrum put them everywhere, even in their cheapest radios - and it's so convenient.
So to me they forgot one of the most important pieces of JR DNA

Nope, that's not a rotary encoder. This just has 6 positions on a limited travel.

A rotary encoder is an "endless" rotary input device, like this:

And it's usually used for menu navigation like on JR/spektrum radios. Needs to have firmware support of course.

The 12 and 16 will have normal strap hard points. They are not shown in the early sample images that have been leaked in this thread.

That top LCD looks like the already existing FrSky telemetry display. And why not. Telemetry must be on top and the menu setup can be on bottom screen. The 12 looks very nice indeed.
