Thanks John.. Great write up mate. Planks are in there own world with respect of price , quick build , simplicity..
JW planform has proven it's self for years , and now has been taken to the next level. Kudos to the hard work put into this by the team.
Looking forward to seeing it stretch it legs.
BTW how heavy was it ??

Tim. Waiting for some vid..

John, your post has whet my appetite.
Can't hardly wait to see one fly.
25-35 is an average day at Weldon.
I think I remember it took 50-60mph winds for you to go 234 with the foamie JW.

I set up crow on my Bluto, it works just fine, not as well as a tailed aircraft but definitely very useful at killing some speed.

Only took a few minutes of adjusting things to get it controllable

Bruce says it's 92oz.
The foamie John went 234 with is 89oz.

Crow: I'd like to see it in action

Ok, I want one. Sounds too good to not want one. When are they gonna be available?

None really, just set the aileron to come up and the central flap to down (3 surfaces on the Bluto) operated by the throttle stick.

I adjusted for the maximum amount of down flap I could get with my linkages.
Then adjusted the amount of up going aileron (which is of course also elevator) to balance the model.
If needed a curve could be put against this, but I didn't bother - it was good enough - more time may make it better.

Took one attempt to adjust and I haven't changed it since. I could adjust linkages to allow for greater amounts of down flap, as I hadn't built it with this in mind, but it doesn't need it it is easy to land and slows by about half under crow.
A little bit of flying / positioning on the hill and it lands lovely.

Jools (Pike Pro) has a successful similar arrangement on his Odyssey, with layout etc similar to Bluto.
