He's probably going 6s. 6s 5000 has about the same energy density as the 8s 4000 that I'm using. 6s 5000 is a pretty common size in the 3D forums for 30cc airframes.

Let us know how that works out. I would love to double my packs for more flight time, but the floats are really heavy. It feels like a porker already, but I haven't had the chance to try the floats yet.

I fly 12S 4400 & 5000 with 18x8...stacks of power on floats, good throttle management and the Cub will fly for ages.

On 10S 5000 with 19x10...as above, with less top end. But the top end on 12S is really not needed, just nice for getting off the water with ease, not that 10S struggles.

This is with a Power 160

My 10S pulls 2743W (20lb AUW) with 19x10 prop and anything over 50% throttle looks a little silly (too much speed/power). That's 137W/lb - wow! My buddy is running P110 on 8S and floats with no issues.

I haven't seen a 12S setup and can't imagine doing myself, but I'd like to watch!

BTW, I also have the Hangar 9 Beaver with the same Bigfoot 160 on 10S which I'm converting to floats. Plenty of power with tons of headroom to deal with the extra weight and drag.

Without floats on, the Cub on 12S is the king of STOL...at take off, stab the throttle open and the plane is airborne in it's own length or under.

Less than 50% throttle is how to fly it without ripping the wings off!

Wow! Having a 12s power system on board is sort of like having a turbine engine in a full size cub. It will get you off the ground quickly, it just won't fly much faster.
But oh, what a climb rate!

Been flying the supercub since last summer and now fly it from the frozen lakes nearby. Some skis would be nice tough😄
