I started practicing on the old hatch in case I really screwed up, didn't want to ruin anything on the new one until I knew I could do a good job. Tell me what you guys think
Looks great. I was thinking of doing that as well. Is that the foil tape that is used for dryer ducting?

Managed to get some more air time on my P-51. My flying buddy got some really good video but my camera didn't catch much sound, so I added my own. Enjoy...

P 51D (1 min 10 sec)

RCBlackSheep, imagine if your electric P-51 really did sound like that!?! Mine does.

I like your video clip.

Thank you
After adding the sound to the video, I pretty much convinced myself to get a sound system for it. Building on another plane right now.

Guys, can someone tell me if the wings come off easily on this plane and how? Appears to be 2 scews at the scoop, is that it?

I'm not a fan of the way the scoop screws on, so like several others, I converted mine to a one-piece wing that fixes in from the inside (so the blind nuts are on the underside of the wing rather than inside the fuselage). The scoop then glues on.

Ok guys, I picked up a used Blue Nose from a friend. Its got a pwr 160 in it and he was running 10s "2x5s 5000 40c" with an 18x10 2 blade. What do you guys think of this set up for this plane?

I made my wing one piece. Then the scoop is on with velcro and magnets. Works great.

As for a Power 160, you would rip the wings off at full throttle. But with just an 18x10 prop, you are probably not using all the motor's power, and will get good flight times. I think the oversize motor and batteries were done for balancing the CG. I would check it with a watt meter. You should not run more than 200 watts per pound on a warbird IMO.

I'm using a Tacon big foot 110 and 8s with APC 18X10. The plane weighs in at just over 11lbs and flies just perfect. Fast, unlimited, tracks perfectly and requires no nose weight. All this at 5000ft and it lands so sweet with flaps.

If you can fit 10s, keep the wing loading reasonable and get a good 5 min of flying I say go for it.

Thanks, this plane is set up nice and both 5s fit in it fine. M ybiggest concern is the extra weight of the big motor and 2 5s 5000s.

I flew mine with a 110 on 10s with a 15x12 prop. Flew awesome! I could run 4min on the firewall around 130mph and have plenty left over. My timer was at 6min and I always flew to the timer and had battery left.

I can say it will be fun to fly and gentle to land. I just can't promise the right wing will stay on for the whole flight....

I epoxied my wings.

Pain to transport but they won't be going anywhere.
