Hobbyking LED Strips on 1s?
I would like to surprise my friend with a set of lights for his UM Corsair. However I dont have much money (12 years old ) so I cant buy a set, but I have some HobbyKing LED strips laying around. I was wondering if I could make it work on 1s somehow. I was thinking of desoldering LED's from the strip itself and use it that way. What do you guys think? Has anyone done this before? Thanks.
P.S. I have already tried my idea on desoldering individual LED's, but only one of them out of 7 attempts have worked. I did the same thing every time. What's the matter? Can the LED's be shorted or burnt while desoldering, maybe that was the case? I dont know.....any feedback would be greatly welcomed. Thanks.

Nevermind....it turns out that I was holding the iron to the LED's for too long and damaging them. Now I hold it there for as short as possible and everything is good!
