Yes they can be bolted to the F450 as is, for the F550 there is an adapter.

well i got a good hour and a half of flying with the hex today, the new legs and gimbal work really great. Glad i didn't try and rebuild my 'balsa special'

Have a great blooper of me flying and seeing the battery slide out the front (forgot to secure it), the gopro caught it, will keep it for the blooper reel

Time to prep the SSS and get her flight worthy for tomorrow

The frame in the photos with the legs is a DJI F450. Yes I carry them as well as various other frames and components.

I'd probably lean towards the F550 if your plan is to carry a gimbal and camera as it would give you a bit more overhead for payload.

Or even go with a larger custom quad like the following:
