Syma X8C Venture

Syma has announced a new quadcopter… the X8C Venture.

It appears to be a larger aerial video platform, similar in design to the DJI Phantom. Not much other info to go on yet. And I can't tell from the pics if it has brushless motors, or just a gear-drive system. EDIT: It has now been confirmed that the motors are *NOT* brushless… so this quad may burn up motors quickly. We shall see…

Looking at the description & package contents it appears it's probably a re-modelled x5c.
Controller appears to be the same, albeit in lary colours.
Zooming in on the pics it certainly looks like brushed/geared motors too.

Description and package contents are almost certainly "guesses" at this point, and likely copy and pasted from the X5C. I pay no attention to those details this early in a product announcement, as they are certainly not factual. All we have to go on so far are some pics from a HongKong Expo.

I wouldn't so quickly assume that about the motors. This quad is large, and I really think it will be brushless. There's really no telling from the pics though… the frame is too enclosed to really see anything.

It would have to be brushless if those pictures are accurate. If they were coreless motors, they would definitely heat up being sealed like that plus the shaft of the motors is too big for not being brushless let alone the weight of that frame and landing legs would be too much for a geared coreless setup.

I hope you're right.
it could be a nice cheap quad if so, however those motor housings just look wrong to me for brushless.
I'm sure you'll get one ryan, & I'll look forward to the review.

If this thing is powered by a "1 x 3.7V 500mAh Battery" as the product description leads us to believe, it couldn't have much in the way of flight time, could it?

Looks like the product package weight has increased from 1kg (X5C-1) to 1.7kg

Guessing (hoping) some of this will change as actual release draws near.

Looks like I'm going to have to purchase stock in Syma just to get some of my money back that I've given/will give them!

Strange... very strange...
With these size, such big battery, 2S, and optional Action Cam, I think brushed motors will be a problem.

Maybe just slightly bigger motors &/or better gearing?
Like I said previously, the shape of the motor housings just doesn't seem right for brushless.
If you're going to go direct drive from a brushless motor whats with all the elaborate, elongated shaped, vented housings on the arms?

I could see it going either way… brushless motors still need to be vented, and the shaping could've been for wiring, etc.
