The new Full range orange Rx R620

Has anyone tried the new R620 ORx's? Just wondering if they were twice as good as the old trusty R610? I know they cost 12 bucks whereas the 610 is still about 6... They claim it's a full range Rx, but I use the 610 on many parkflyer size planes and never lost sig or flew out of range. If they are better than the 610 with a Sat Rx, it will be worth 12 bucks I guess??

I have bought 2 Orange R620 receivers. Though I am having issues with them in my PZ P-47. I have 5 channels working with 5th the gears no issue. The AUX will not work the flap switch on the DX6i. Also the satellite will not bind with the R620. They both will just stay red and you get no function out of anything.

Anyone had any luck?

If both have a light on it means that they are bound, try binding both again but from further away. Sometimes if you are too close, the binding process messes up.

I'm wondering how much real range these receivers have. One guy got 1.5 miles with the R910 which should be the same except for the extra 3 channels.

I got this all working and figured out the issues. It was a bad satellite. To get Ch 6 to work for the DX6i for flaps. Go to Flaps - Normal - change 0 to 100. I found the flaps just stay at 50% and don't respond. After I mad this change they work fully and can put in any Land amount and they work great. It wasn't a matter that the flaps were normal or reversed. Found it weird since I didn't have to do for the Orange 610.

Using this with a satellite and the R620 it works beyond vision in my test. Not bad for about 35 bucks total.

JeanJacq, Thanks for posting your test video.

I hope you can open Both Receiver and lets take a look inside of the receiver, I wonder what make the R620 more expensive.

Orange R620 is not a full range receiver unless you install a Satellite receiver.

Orange R610 look like there are Dual Antenna, but I guess its only a Single Active Antenna, the Other Antenna is just a Ground Plane.

Hello LazyB,

The test was done without satelite and the plane flies to an altitude of about 200m
(nearly 660 feet)...: And no lost frames at all during both test flights with this the R620. (He tested and operated 4 )

Nope don't really think so, not does the test above show that. The Sat just offers signal diversity, not range.

I have 10 active Orange 620 and no problems at all.
The longer aerial is great for my Pylon racer with lots of carbon.

Next to the R620 I have the R710, R410 and the newer 8 channel DSMX receiver of them (but not is use yet....)
I start also using the Lemon receivers (but is offtopic)

I don't fly gliders and maybe 500meters max. My planes get to small if I fly beyond 300meter

Orange 620 receivers

Yesterday I received an Orange Tx T-SIX and 4 Receivers model 620... I read the manual and proceeded to do the BIND process... Everything worked OK as per the book... first, the receiver with the bind plug blinked really fast and after turning the Tx on, after a few seconds, the light on the receivers went solid, as it should be... a servo connected to the receiver worked fine.

Today, however, I put one of the receivers into a glider and noticed that the light on the receiver BLINKED at a steady pace... did a range test and everything worked fine but the receiver in the glider continued blinking at a slow pace (not as if had the bind plug inserted)...

Question: Is this normal?... I never had one of these receivers before so I canīt tell if there is something wrong. As I said before, the range test worked fine (More than 90 feet). I also tested a different receiver and it acts the same way...
Thanks for the help...

I had this also once, but can't recall what caused it. See below my 2 guesses.
My friend has the DX-7 and it happend to him as well with original RX.

So my two guesses are:
1) IMO it could also be that the transmitter is too close to the RX. With binding I noticed, that a bit distance works much better for binding.
So this typical phenomenal during binding, could maybe also cause this behaviour?
2) The transmitter was not on. Or it was on, but wrong program selected.

In short after you did bind a model:
A) put on the TX with the correct program selected. Next step is to connect the ESC to the battery. The led should be steady on and not flashing, to display a correct binding/connection. If it does blink/flashes, re-connect again.

Bye the way, interesting to know:

How to program the failsafe on Orange:

Orange RX with failsave of course . The R620 / R710 / R910

Program the failsafe on Orange 7 ch RX (1 min 28 sec)

Pre-set fail safe.
- Insert the bind plug in the receiver.
- Power on the receiver. Once the LED is flashing remove the
bind plug from the receiver.
- Once you have all sticks and switches in the desired positions on your
transmitter power on the transmitter holding the bind button. This will program the Receivers fail safe in the the positions that the radio was in at the time of binding.
