No, build a Bicopter! :) ... up to 2-lb. payload

Hi,

There's no question Bob/signguy's tricopter is a great vehicle .. the videos are amazing.

The Vader 600/Colibri Bicopter camera platform is my project, and I sell kits and RTFs of them. Distance between prop centers is just under 19".

Though I don't think the complete building of aircraft should be in the AP forum (just because they can carry a camera; almost any aircraft can), "build" is in the subject title because the kit requires quite a bit of just that, and a good portion of adjusting and tweaking (and it's sold at cost, my cost). And, of course, my intent was to poke a little fun at the Tricopter thread of a similar name ... and also get your attention.

The RTF version is for AP professionals who want to carry large cameras and not go through all of the above. Btw, in the videos below, the craft is carrying a Canon PowerShot 520 + camera craddle + tilt servo, for a total payload weight of 1 lb.

You can see both the kit and RTF versions of the nVader, as well as other models, at http://www.gressaero.com

Gary

P.S. 06Sep: I've posted new flight videos near bottom of page 6

Looks like an Avatar Scorpion is not very far off now! You could put a shell around that dude with a V tail and some shrouds and you'd have it!

Build details would be very interesting to see. Also how you tested the 2lb payload capacity, what it takes motor wise, amp draw, controls, etc. etc.

So can we just buy the GMM and go from there?

The GMM is only meant for gressaero planes and their particular (unique?)mechanics. It won't stabilize other dual-prop designs. See "How our Aircraft Work" on the sidebar.

Gary,

Nice to see you here, I've been following your work (fantastic) since day one, keep 'em coming buddy.

How about the planned (?) 250 size Gress craft, any news?

Sebastian.

Wow! $825 for a CopilotII! I have one I'll let go at the "bargain" price of $500, just 'cause I'm a nice guy

I don't think you have. There's plenty to build and adjust if you want. The RTF is $1750, but kit selling price with GMM is $440. That's my cost.

that's for the Co-Pilot II + Installation + Programming + Flight testing.

It's for the RTFs only. If you want just the CPII (& install it etc. yourself), then it's best to go directly to FMA. Their price is $200, not $500.
