Bell 429 Super Scale detailed build log
700 Size Super Scale Bell 429 Air Zermatt
Building the new 700 size Bell 429 Super Scale from RC Aerodyne.
It's going to be about the same size as my AS350 Super Scale.
Bell 429 Specs:
Body length: 1650mm
Length incl. rotors: 1920mm
Main rotor diameter: 1560mm
Main blade length: 700mm
Tail rotor diameter: 280mm
Tail blade length: 105mm
So let the fun begin. You should of seen my mail lady carry this down the driveway!
Just like my AS350 this thing is packed for war. Everything is glued and taped in secure.
As usual the paint scheme and fiberglass quality is Excellent! This box is PACKED!
It includes full scale mechanics, four bladed head and tail rotor blades, full interior from instrument panel, seating, down to joysticks and pedals.
Lets take a closer look at the fuselage
Top doghouse cover removed
Side and sliding cargo door open
Main rotor head
Test fitting the mechanics
Build session #1
I always start by installing the skids so that I have a working platform.
Manual has you starting with interior first but I jumped to getting the mechanics test fitted, tail section aligned, and drilled and glued in tail section mounting blocks
Once tail section was mounted and secure I could move onto horizontal and vertical fin installation
I also glued on the running boards. I moved onto water transfer decals next so I re-installed top dog house cover
Water Transfer Decal Time!
Instrument panel, foot pedals, joysticks, collective levers, and pilot seats installed
This thing is Big! Not 1/6 scale big, but works for me!

Body lines are pretty nice, tons of body rivets, the doors don't fit perfectly closed but I'd bet if I sanded down some paint they would close better. The painted main and tail blades are a nice touch and can't wait to see them spooled up. I really, really enjoyed that the skids were finally Air Zermatt white... Had to paint them on both my AS350's.
Bell 429 and AS350 Super Scales
Here are some Interior detail pics
Here are some Exterior detail pics
Here are all electronics needed to complete the build!
PhoenixTech 500kv motor
Edge HV120 ESC
THOR 45c Lipos
Naza H FBL Unit
Spektrum AR8000 with sat
Outrage BL 9180's on cyclic
Outrage BL9188 on tail
Sexy Outrage BL cyclic servos
The Outrage servos were to deep, the wires hit the metal mechs so I had to move the holes up
Servos horns and links installed
Motor, ESC, BEC, RX, and Naza mounted. Next will be all the soldering and starting the programming!
Test fit to see how she will look
All soldering is done and mechs re-test fitted.

Ok boys. Sorry this build is dragging on, that thing called life gets in the way. With my Lil Hailey and crazy 50hr work weeks not much time for building. Plus this is my prime demo/funfly season.
So any who, after doing a weekend of demos with my big AS350 Super Scale it resparked my drive! Got in about an hours worth on it today after I got home from the funfly.
My Lil Hailey
Mechanics are in, wires are soldered, head/tail installed
Next is linkages and set up pitch

Hopefully I will have an update soon. Took it to the parking lot for the maiden and the ESC went up in smoke. CC is sending me a replacement this week and hope to try the maiden again...!
