Not exactly a scratchbuilt but pretty far removed from what it started as. It was a iFlight RC iQ550 kit hex (Flamewheel 550 clone) but I kept breaking the arms. They were just too fragile for my flying skills and I was breaking them right and left.

Being still early in the learning curve with multis, I was putting them to a pretty good test though.

So I cut some arms out of 0.093" (3/32") G10-FR4 material and now it will never break another arm. Used the cut off frame plate ends of the broken arm to make spacers for the frame plates, attached the arms to the top of the frame plate, and it was all good to go.

I now have an industrial strength hex...

That is also now flying with tapered cone prop savers on all six motors too. Using the Maxx Products ACC361 prop savers and am putting three Thera-Band prop saver bands on each prop to stiffen them up a little. And it is flying fine with the prop savers on it, no difference at all as far as the way it flies as neat as I can tell.

I am using my 4S A123 2300mAH packs and am getting 5-6 minute flights out of a pack. But I have three of them and that gives me enough time to get my kicks. A 4S A123 pack works just like a 3S LiPO pack except that you can use it down to 2V or so without hurting it. The penalties on A123 LiFEPO4 cells are that they are 40% heavier than LiPO, a little bulkier, and the A123 cells have disappeared from the market.

The hex is flying at an AUW of 1555g ready to fly and using right around 240W in a stable hover. It has plenty of power for me, it hover just below 50% throttle and will go out of sight with a little encouragement.

And a multi that flies like a truck is perfect for my old hands, eyes, and brain.

This application needs special or custom configurations and I know there are ALOT of smart people here on this thread that can simply make their own version on this.

This would be the perfect use for sliders on a DX9 or DX18. He's got another video showing how he did it ...

Now this has me thinking of putting an EDF in the frame of a V-Tail

Powerful EDF should do the trick. I also
noticed that it's like it goes to high speed
like he flip a switch when it zoom forward.

To be honest with you guys, this design is on the spot and I don't think we can get better than this. The prop is spinning on the tricopter tail boom, with the right calculation related to the motor power and Tricopter weight and this is the outcome. This is perfect for those guys that race quads. With 60 mph ,I'm out of the race LOL.
