Yes, it's a genuine one, as I do have another, complete WAF-1.
So, why get a second one...?......simply, I couldn't resist the challenge of completing this seriously "abused" example with the parts that I (luckily) already had....these occations are rare indeed, but it's a nice feel to salvage an engine (or anything) from becoming roadfill..., and, in the process, establishing the indisputable magic of a "junk box"...
This spinner nut is not of highest importance, though eventually finding one would be a nice "final touch"....yes, making one is always an option, as I do have an original to copy...

Walter Fritsche did export his engines to some extent, but (AFAIK) to a fairly limited number of countries...this is something I haven't really figured out.
Here in Sweden the WAF engines gained a good reputation among its users, but even here they seem to have been unevenly spread...if asking an "older" Swedish modeller about the WAF's, the answer may be either total ignorance or praise, depending what town he lived in as a kid...
In my town, among us kids, WAF-1 was a popular, frequently used engine...

PAW spares

The following are surplus to requirements, were battle casualties and are free to a good home:

1. One (1) set of PAW .35 cooling fins, exhaust collector, screws and gaskets. Top cooling fin damaged, needs to be turned down or straightened. Stinger has been silver soldered when insert loosened.

2. PAW .60 backplate, exhaust collector gaskets and connecting rod. Backplate and connecting rod big end slightly 'dinged". Conrod is true. Holes are not oblongated. Both easily made serviceable.

PM your details including postal address if you want anything. I will post back to advise as items are taken up.

*** EDIT ***

All parts now claimed.

Does anybody remember the Allbon/DC fuel cut off from the '50s that screwed into the engine in place of the normal spraybar?
If you do and have one you don't want, please talk to me.

Is there anything else in the way of a fuel cut off that fits close to the spray bar on a diesel to shut it down quickly rather than having it burble on for 2 or 3 seconds?

Might have a brandnew one. I'll have a look tomorrow. Off to the Retro Car and Motorcycle show in Antwerp right now.

Have plenty of needles of different makes but how does it look like ? Must see if I do have a Veco 45 in my collection so I can compare. No time for it today.

Have the original operating instructions leaflet for this diesel engine free to anyone who would like it to accompany the same engine in your collection. Send a personal message to me with an address and it's yours.

Sorry to disappoint you but not in the box. Picture of my Taifun, needle and original Graupner package. Your engine does have another type of needle steady but then again Taifun may have had changes, I am not specialised in those German diesels. But I am sure these are easy to find on ebay Germany.

German needle valves. Last picture is Super Tigre. Have quite a few of all of these. Friend Danny Claes does have some stock as well, he may have that Hurrikane needle.

Have no Veco 45. This is the alu needle I was thinking of, probably not what you're looking for, the other alu one in the carb is a K&B carb.
