Gluing Depron?

I know this question is going to stir a lot of opinions. what is the best glue for gluing Depron. I have read everything from Elmers to Epoxy. I have some white glue that I bought at Micheals that is for foam. I haven't tried it on Depron yet. What is Welders glue and where do you get it from? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I have found odorless (foam safe) CA to work ok. At least on the depron that I used. There may be differences between manufacturers.

Do NOT use CA de-bonder...ask me how i know.

Foam safe ca works (but becomes brittle) White Gorilla Glue is good with practice (easy to use too much). DO NOT use Welder's on Depron. It will melt the foam!

I really like using using the "Gorilla Glue Precision Glue Pen" which is actully a small tube of clear Gorilla Glue that is an expanding glue that dries turning to a white foam. Walmart carries it. For small cracks in my little UMX Extra 300, I keep a cup with water and a q-tip on my work bench to dampen the crack, then I use a toothpick to dab a tiny amount of the glue in the crack. I then clamp/weight the part flat and after a couple minutes I wipe off the bulge of glue expanding from the crack. I have not really timed the cure time, but after an hour I have flown the plane again with no issues.

I really like the stuff because it fills voids on it's own and when dry it seems to be nearly identical to the foam. Subsequent crashes rarely result in a break in the repaired areas.

If one forgets to wipe the part off after the glue has expanded at the crack line, you can use a dremel tool with a small round abrasive wheel to lightly "grind" off the excess.

Try Foam-Tac by beacon, dries clear, holds strong and is flexable. Some Micheals carry it but if not you can order from RCFoam.com $3.95. It works on all foams.

Depron Glue Chart

A while back we put together this glue chart. This shows the different applications and issues with a large variety of glues available on the market.

I like UHU Creativ for depron. It's flexible, strong, and dries fairly quickly. It's hard to find though.

Readily available, cheap, Depron safe, good bond ...

The Depron glue question gets asked often. Here's a link to a, IMO, good choice (post 264, page 18):

Foam-Tac is good for most foams. Dedpron to Depron is does real well. the white Gorilla glue is great on Depron, especially for stuff like gluing carbon fiber into pockets and filling gaps etc.

The nice thing about foam-tac is that it is a super contact cement and thus you let it dry on both faces and then push together to bond. The bond is very strong immediately to allow you to keep building. I suspect it is not as strong as wheite gorilla, but it is easy and quick.

Foam safe CA works well and is quick. But it ius a little brittle and it is exepnsive. it too is quick.

you need many tools. there is no "BEST"

I used canopy glue on my last couple of foamie builds. Although it takes a long time to dry, the joints are not coming apart. It is a pain to try to sand though.
