Zuni 1.2M Art Hobby Build Log

I started working on this plane last week!
I have had some trouble on the way, but overall I think I am doing ok.

Here I messed up because the instructions didn't show how the horns had to be.

Seems awesome now.

Still work in progress.

But The pack came with only one wire, I think to use both elevators simultaneously.

Barro,

I fly the Art Hobby Gamma also at 1.2m but electric. I fly the v-tail as elevator-only which is pretty common with smaller planes around the 1.0m wingspan. The single servo for elevator control saves weight and does not seem to detract from its turn performance.

I just got a pic from Andre from Arthobby with a pic with one servo.
I am going to do that.

Andre, being the co-designer on these planes, has a wealth of knowledge and tips. Among the very best in customer support.

Enjoy your build and flying!

How much movement down should the ailerons have to use flaperons?

Barro,

I've experimented with flaperons quite a few times on different planes. I've never been happy with the results trying to use them as "pseudoflaps". I have had some success using them to change the camber of the wing. They are not full-span so not as effective as on a full house ship.

I have found that a deflection of only 1-2mm seems to assist in thermals. Too much deflection will dramatically affect your roll response and the plane will feel very "mushy" and unresponsive.

I do use spoileron programming and that has been very effective in reducing lift on landing approaches and at altitude in strong thermals. I use my left slider to control and I can get to max deflection. I've never measured but it must be close to 20mm. Note: That was on my 1.2m Gamma e-glider, but very similar to your Zuni.

thanks Dave, I have this plane for sloping so basically got flaperons as brakes.

But I might redo the ailerons, the cut is way too crooked.
