1/2A Texaco Baby Bombshell

Hi friends!

I am building a baby bombshell with balsa! I reduced the plans and the wingspan is 86cm and the balsa weight until now is 70gr. IŽll use a 049 cox motor on it with throttle.

049 RC Bomber - Custom Cox .049 Model Engine with RC Throttle Radio Control.

The reason I choose this is that it has throttle control. I will use to cover Balsaloc and Litespan

The Specification:
3 cox micro servos 6gr
1oz Cox gas tank
Cox 049 5x3 prop

Today I covered the firewall and the front of the fuselage with a mix of 1/1 epoxy 15min and alcohol to seal the balsa against the fuel from motor.

I would you like you could tell what you think about my construction, send me any tips and ideas for my building process once I have not so much experience in balsa and fuel motors building

Thank you so much,
Luis

Looking very good Luis. For little balsa experience, it looks fine. I don't know if it's the camera lens or not, but it looks like a little misalignment in the tail surfaces. But if so, it's not enough to worry about, your rudder will cancel out the alignment. The lens on my camera isn't made for close up work, so it always makes my pictures look like things are misaligned.

The tail is not glued in the fuselage yet, I just put them together and itŽs holded in place with clear packing tape to see it "ready". First IŽll cover the tail with litespan and then glue it in place, also for the rudder.

One problem I saw is the bad access to reach the eletronics: servos, speed control and the gas tank. Will be difficult to access from the upside, where the
wing will stay. I was thinking about making a door, right under the firewall, to help
any nedeed maintenance...

The other question is about the throttle: I think IŽll have to instal this servo near the cox 049, but I canŽt work so much now until the parts arrives to me

Thanks for your help!

For the "painting scheme" IŽll do something like this picture. But about the Buzzard pic, IŽm still in doubt

I'd like to after I get to the next 2 projects. The first I need to get started on is an .09 size Stick with quad flaps and the 2nd one is going to be a .049 sized Playboy Sr. with rudder, elevator and throttle. I am going to use one of my COX Black Widow's with one my old Ace R/C reed valve throttle kits.

Hi,

My cox has already the throttle command, as you can see in the picture. I also bought 1oz gas tank that must give me six minutes of flight

Those R/C Sure Start's are nice. And that 1 oz. tank should give you plenty of run time.
