New Product
Phoenix model Spitfire Mk 2 Nov 2014

Just purchased one of these. I have been waiting for months for a Spitty in Balsa. It looks close enough for me to have some fun bashing it a little and still have good flight characteristics at a very reasonable price. That and the fact I have most of the required parts to complete in my spares box prompted me to purchase. New scheme is a must for me.

Amazing value.
Apart from the colours, it looks like a fair scale project.
What motor are you going with.
Will follow with interest.
I have a foamy Spit that should be replaced with a built up model.
Cheers
Tony

It is pretty good Value for sure.
I am planning on the Turnigy easy match 46 670 kv
and getting the FMS prop and spinner it says it is 14 x 8
and a 4 cell or 5 cell depending on what I have kicking around.

I want to weigh it first I have a couple of Turnigy SK 35-42 1000 kv
I also have a 70 amp esc. I could run it on 4 cells but would need to check the prop.
Also Spits like a bit of weight up front so the 50-55 easy match motor may save a few head aches

I ordered one too, for pretty much the same reasons--I'd been looking for a larger, balsa Spitfire that seemed reasonably scale-ish, and this looked good and the price was right. Mine should be there when I get home tonight. We're hosting guests for Thanksgiving, so it'll be a while before I can do much with it, but I'll post on my progress here, too. Should be fun! I wanted to have the kit and manual in-hand before deciding on motor, battery, etc., so please do share your thoughts and conclusions.

Mine should be here Friday but my plan is to go glow for now. Its nice looking for the price. Be interesting to see if the quality is worthy.

Really interested in this as I have been looking around for a good spit this size (non foamie) so looking forward to hear on quality, how it goes together and flies.

Mike looking forward to some pics. Mine probably will be 2-4 weeks getting across the border from the States.
I should get a post box in Seattle and then go pick it up. Not to worry it is on the way.
I was looking for a 60 size Spit but most are out of production and the rest should be.

The things I like from the pictures are
gear retracts the right direction
good dihedral on the wings
reasonable canopy
split flaps even though not scale
battery hatch

Things I plan to address
It doesn't look like a Mk II Spit at all so I'll make into a MkVIII or MK IX by
adding wing radiators
address the tail shape
re-paint

I got to at least open up the box and look at mine last night, for a few minutes, and to look over the manual. From what I saw the quality looks good; hopefully I'll get to spend some more time with it this weekend . . .

Mine showed up yesterday. Over all, it looks like a good quality ARF.

Looks really nice! Phoenix Models seems to be on the right path with these revised models like this one. Hope they keep it up and bring out some more like it. They are reasonably sized and priced

Question for you... are the landing gear struts sprung or are they fixed?

TIA - Kman

They have springs. I have a Seagull Models Seafire and they look exactly the same. I have seen them fail in the past, but it was on a heavy gasser version of the Seafire. They should hold up on a electric version.
