Midwest Super Hots 60 G.T.E. conversion done
I just completed the conversion of my Super Hots to run on electrons. It's powered by a Rimfire 60 on homebrewed mount (of which the idea came from this forum), Castle Creations Edge 75 ESC (with new arming switch visible in on right side of fuse) and it'll run on 2 6S 2600's in parallel, hoping to get 7-8 minutes of flight out of them.
I don't have the batteries yet but did simulate the combined weight of ~830g by stuffing 3S 2200's that I have in the tank compartment. Well, what used to be the tank compartment. 2 of the Glaciers I intend to run will fit in there just fine. The AUW knocked the scale back 7.5lbs. I've read where the Midwest kit version of this airplane is heavier than the scratch-built one that Dan Santich originally designed. But, this is right where the fully fueled weight was with the OS .61 and Macs pipe, both of which are for sale in the Classifieds section.
The Futaba FASST 8-ch Rx is now powered by a new 1000mA LiFe battery, which allowed me to get the CG set perfect. I'm waiting on the funds to get the batteries and then I'll re-maiden it in its new electric form. It's been years since I flew this airplane and I'm itching to get it flying again.
I'll upload a pic or two once I get home. Can't upload from work due to IT security reasons.
