Big project. I want to build one some day.
I got in a little trouble with some of the masters that build these majestic machines. I may have spouted off a little too much about brushless setups and criticized them for using 12 volt technology.
I'm still trying to remove the tar and feathers from my body.
The fact still remains, you will need serious power to move this boat.
I have some theories on using some powerful brushless motors to do the job. If you're going to used brushed power, you may want to start researching 700 sized motors and Mtroniks speed controls.

According to his calculations, using two MFA 850 Turbo motors, with 1.75" props, the Dauntless should run at approximately 22.5 MPH less slippage, which should be OK for planing speed and scale appearance.
For the ESC, I have chosen the Astro Flight 208D.
I know this is a big project, and only my second build, however, I plan on taking my time.
I'll post as I progress, and hope you will follow this thread, and please help me along.
