Cheapest place in aus to buy sanyo nicads?

I'm after some good (sanyo) high capacity sub c's, around the 2300-3000mah range.

I've tried NiMH's and they can't handle the current draw, and it's an enclosed system so lipos are out. Weights not an issue so the old bullet proof nicads are out!

SO, where's cheap?

I think you`d be lucky to get nicads in that capacity these days . Have you tried GP nimh cells . They were the class leaders & I constantly ran mine above 100 amps in bursts & theyre still ok .

Any drill packs going cheap? Most of the cheaper ones of them seem to be nicads, and they seem to handle a fair bit of crap.

So the high discharge NiMH still don't handle the current that nicads will?

The biggest problem with the nimhs is the voltage drop at high amps. What they're going into has voltage sensing, so it notices the drop across the pack, and then decides the pack is stuffed straight off the bat.

Lithium works ok, but the problem with the cells i have is they've all got their own internal hi-lo cutoff circuitry. In a pack situation this is lunacy, as one cell on charge will cut off when peaked, leaving the others to get more than thier fair share, leading to a horribly unbalanced pack, and "death" of a few cells after about 30 cycles.

Hence my reasoning for going back to the auld faithfulls! they may be heavy, and not carry much capacity but you can beat the p*ss out them and they just keep on workin!

If weight is no issue, and huge current draw is, why not lead acid bike battery? You can get around a 5, 7 or even 14 amp hour that will crank serious amps.

What is it for?

How much do you need to pull? Those GP cells are pretty awesome at feeding big current and holding voltage as Dingo has already mentioned

The problem with using a lead acid pack is that it's only 12v. I need 14.4!

It's for a roomba. The original packs were nicads, and I'm starting to figure out why.

Nimhs are great, until it gets stuck on something and current spikes. It pretty much just shuts down!

This site has amazing prices

You buy them in packs 3x 4pack or 5x 4pack no stock ATM but i think there about $59 for 5 packs for 1000mah , they do get 2000+ mah aswell
