BTW I didn't mention. back here in the states the March issue AMA mag "Model Aviation" that goes to everyone in the USA who flies at an approved field (AMA insurance) had an article put up that a buddy from our field Todd Melton, (He also put together our local combat website.) contributed a bit on a new engine. It had a Mig (combat style) front and center in the article built by a guy Ron who built this Good looking one. Thought I'd throw it in here for you to see:

here are a couple of pics of what i have been busy with over the last few days... i made this from fiber glass, then used body filler to get a more accurate shape. then i vacuum formed the canopy at college. stoked!

Sean, you said in the beginning that the best size, in terms of performance etc, is to go for a 1320mm span. by what factor do you need to increase the original A4 plans? i have just realised that my span is 44.8 inches, as per the original plan! how do i ask the print shop to enlarge it so that my span will be 1320mm? also, how much of a difference will this increase in size make on the flight characteristics?

Welcome to RCG!!

You have done more than me when it comes to the canopy!...I have always wanted to vacuum form.... and to date have not...its been on top of my "Things to Do" list for years! You have done well!!...it looks good!

I am not sure about how much percent you enlarge the A4 by....been a long time..I just use the same set of templates. Take the A4 page, and a tape measure, and ask them to go 320% on the diagram with the wing and measure where the span would be. This should be about 660mm. Go more or less from there to get close enough. If you are out in half span, you only pay for one scrap page.
OR...
Take it down on flash drive to a Print and Copy shop....they should have the software to manipulate it to what you want.....and print/plot it. Ask the guys at college that are studying architechture how they do thier projects!!

well, since i will be building a slightly larger plane i will probably end up making a new canopy and nose cone mould! im busy designing what my colour scheme will look like.
bought another sheet of 3mm and 2mm correx today, as well as some orange and blue vinyl! will post some drawings soon... im gonna have to experiment a bit!

take the file to a print shop and have them incease the plan by 16% this gives a span of approx 1330mm
