The Arduino seems to have full functionality and I have the machine running on GMFC. I would like a bit more speed though so I might try upping the pulse speed out of the Arduino.

Changed the pulse speed in the Arduino sketch to 10K. That did the trick. Getting 7.5mm/sec machine speed now.

Anker's Foam Cutting Program

Hey Wetafly, Can you give me any help in getting Anker's foam cutting program to run all 4 axis.. Mach 3 runs fine, but Anker's Left X (pins 2 & 3) nothing...

I had no problems. You could try GMFC which has the same pinout and see if you still have the problem.

Tidied up the plugs and leads and got the heat controller into an enclosure.
Very pleased with the outcome. Many thanks to JH.
Just need to get the vinyl cutter going for some labels.
Now to start cutting foam again.

Well I was a bit premature on the cutting. Can only get the machine to run in one direction in GMFC (both directions with Anker's software). Interestingly changing the table direction in the software did nothing. Checked the pinouts no problem there. Am suspecting GMFC sending pulse before direction. I have just received a GGC V2 from Dan which can control those parameters. Anyway more testing to be done before complete success.

Problem was incorrect pinout information for GMFC. Sorted now.

So the machine is working perfectly and doing 15mm/sec. Made new short bows so I decide to use my old 47V bow power supply. Connected it to the Arduino controller and turn it on and Zap Pow the smoke comes out and the PC goes black Ahrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrr.
I think the power supply rectifier must have been half blown, hence the old machine dieing. The multimeter just didn't show it up.
Back to the drawing board, at least aeromodeling prepares you for the occasional catastrophe.

Sure. I'm just waiting on a Gecko drive to turn up. It should be any day now. Will need to do some more work on connectors and fitting the cable chain. Nothing special about the mechanical design just get the same rails. One improvement I will do soon is to go for stainless threaded rod and brass nuts with spring loaded anti backlash.

Sure Brian
I have made 3 bows for this project with wire lengths of 500mm 1000mm and 1600mm using .012" inconel wire. If anyone can knows where to get .009"-.010" rene or inconel let me know.
New Gecko controller arrived yesterday so hopefully I am back in business.

Sorry decimal place error. I hate imperial.

Here is a pic of how the bow is mounted on the machine.
