And normally birds won't show up on a radar unless it is a rather large flock. The density of their bones and feathers is not very conducive for the reflection of radar signals.

actually just watched flightradar24.com and a qantas 737 came in from the south and was just under 6000 ft over Bankstown enroute to land at Sydney, so safe to assume it was on approach. Just my take, someone who knows more can certainly correct me if needed

Which is what I offered earlier. If that has what has happened, then it's as bad as if it did indeed happen as is being reported
