You need a fbl controller such as beastx, ar7200bx, v-bar. Cheaper alternatives such as tarot xzy, copterx fbl and others are possible. You can't just put in a receiver and expect it to fly.

If your intention is to just put in a receiver then you need to get a flybar version like a blade 400, blade 450 3d or other similar configuration

A 400 and or 450 blade head with shaft will go right in.
In fact you may not even have to adjust the servo linkages but check them anyway.
dsmx/dsm2 electronics are all interchangeable except for the external SAT links.
You should match those.....example........dsmx rx=dsmx external SAT. dsm2 rx=dsm2 external SAT.
External dsmx satalite receivers will have an (X) embedded/molded on them. Anything else will be dsm2.
If you have any tech questions we are always here to help............

Only if you also purchase an FBL controller such as a Tarot ZYX.
The receiver itself has no gyro and neither does the heli at this point. So youll need a 3axis gyro for the flybarless head. Your current receiver can be used in conjunction with a 3axis gyro.

no.
The fbl head must be used with a fbl controller.
If you use a 6100/6100e rx it will work with a head with a fly bar.
You will also need a gyro to control the tail,g110,g210,gy401 for example for gyros.

FBL head=FBL controller.
FLYBAR HEAD=6100/e=separate gyro.

To prevent any confusion PM me with exactly what you have and I can explain the different combinations that would work for you.

Im not entirley familiar with the spektrum stuff, but i was under the impression you could plug any 6ch receiver into your FBL controller. Only a couple of FBL controllers have built in receivers as far as im aware.

This is true reguarding smaller helicopters. With 550 and above, you can dial back expo and d/r enough to fly fbl w/o estab. Mind you that it will fly like a real heli in that you have to constantly apply forward and right cyclic to maintain attitude and the controls will be incredibly sensitive.

Running weighted rotors and lower rpm help with this as well.

This is not entirely true, except for multirotor setups actually.

A two-bladed heli might hover well, but it won't fly nearly as well as it could with a flybar or fbl controller, especially flown in faster forward flight. The expo is not the problem. The pretty big lack of general stability is. Technically, anything goes, but at what cost?

Interesting that Vario owners have been doing it for years.
