Local Hobby Store and kits

Just went up to my LHS today to see if they had any kits - almost nada. They had a balsa cub kit and one other kit. Just kind of disappointing; they basically just sell RTF & BNF stuff I can order directly from Horizon Hobby. Anyhow, a bit of a letdown but I guess they have to stock whatever will sell. I guess what's odd is they have tons of parts and motors for sale but just not that many kits.

How many companies still make kits? Other than the cottage-industry guys I can only think of two, Guillows and Goldberg. Just isn't the demand there once was.

Yah, I can see the lower demand, but I've only been into the hobby for a few months and I really want to build a plane. It seems like a lot of guys on this forum are into and after watching the Flite Test videos I really see the upside to building a plane - savings cost, experience, fun, ect.

Should keep you busy for a while. Hobby shops sell what sells. RTF sells. Most any hobbyshop would order the Tower kits for you though,

Yah, LHS are a business so cannot fault them. Thankfully there is a cool forum and some great Youtube sites like Flite Test. I think it will be quite cool to see where the technology goes w/ this hobby.
