Help!
Newbie...Ran over log! Need ? parts.

Hit a log. broke prop. Bent shaft.

This is the boat. McCullough gas engine...Octura 1470 prop. Someone told me the prop was too small.

I need some help...I am new to boats-- If anyone would be so kind. I don't know a reputable place to buy boat parts. Also, exactly what prop and shaft should I get? Thanks in advance.

MIchael, I have always found Tony at Warehouse hobbies http://www.whobbies.com/ to be extremely patient and and they are a reputable outfit. There are other good dealers out there, but you need to know exactly what you want.

I can't blow your pics up enough to see the type of shaft you have. From a distance it looks like a 3/16 or 1/4 square end. For your size of setup, it should be 1/4.

I am clueless on props, I just trawl through forums looking at others setup who has a similar boat to mine.

I would do some On-line research make model shaft size. Google would be best it looks pretty old. If all else fails I would also say shoot Tony an Email he will still want to know what size shaft you have though.

An Octura 1470 is the wrong prop for it as it's considered a lifting prop made for hydroplanes, not a Deep-Vee hull. Possibly an Octura X-470 as that's a no- to low-lift prop.
Tony Castronovo at Warehouse Hobbies is a member here but only pops in when he can.

I order a lot of similar parts through www.zippkits.com . you're probably going to need a new stuffing tube if that's damaged, local hobby shops or hardware stores carry K&S tubing so that should be easy to get locally. Go with 5/16" ID tubing as it gives the cable a little room.
Tony at WHH carries the square drive cables and anything else you might need.
