Most fireboats are built on tug-like hulls, because of all the equipment... Not planing speedboat hulls.

I'm happy to see a new offering, but it just looks goofy to me...

All sorts of fast planing type hulls have been used for fireboats. Tug style displacement hulls usually have more room for higher capacity pumps.

After WWI, several 110' subchasers were sold to various cities and converted to fireboats.

Baltimore Fireboat CASCADE, circa 1920

Norwalk, CT has a nice one.

Several cities have fireboats built by SAFE Boats in Seattle.

If it's R/C, it's all good.

Wonder what they'll ask for it.

Their tug still sells for near $300. I'm guessing $349.99 for this fireboat.

Pat,

The change has been that the fire boats are performing more
medical emergency first response than actual fire fighting.
The two new boats local for the Sheriff and Fire department were
both aluminium hull fast boats.

The reasoning for keeping and maintaining the old fire boat is that it is
a huge pumping resource should waterlines fail. It is also irreplaceable monetarily if
the city should want to retire it and build a new one.

Pat The last three Milwaukee Fire Boats bore no resemblance to a tug at all. One of them didn't bear a resemblance to a boat.
