FAQ
Resources for FrSky Taranis and OpenTX

There are a number of online resources for the FrSky Taranis which cover items ranging from training/instruction, model icons, and sounds. This FAQ is for the posting of those resources.

I'll start with a few resources to acquire knowledge, have questions answered, and generally get started:

First of all the Quick Start Guide which is available @ http://www.alofthobbies.com/files/Ta...tart_Guide.pdf

A Wiki for the Taranis by AndreBernet @
https://code.google.com/p/opentx/wiki/OpenTx_FrSky_EN

A directory of videos I've produced is located @
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2042885
which gives indexes of the videos I have posted on my youtube channel @
https://www.youtube.com/user/PagesFlyingCircus/videos

There is a "How To" thread @
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1914834

And a Taranis general discussion thread @
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1866206

There is a listing of many videos about or related to the Taranis @
http://openrcforums.com/wiki/index.php/Video_guides

A forum with numerous Taranis threads is available @
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=97

A post with a 48 page summary of all the tips and hints given in forums through 12/21/13. (Thanks Tbolt65)
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=3833

A similar forum for the Horus (yet to be released Tx from FrSky) @
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=75

Updated drivers, manuals, and firmware updates can be obtained @
http://www.frsky-rc.com/download/

Downloads for Companion9x software which is a computer program for interfacing the Taranis to the computer via USB is available @
https://code.google.com/p/companion9x/downloads/list
This site also has drivers for Linux, Mac, and Windows to allow Companion9x to Flash new firmware (updated Open9x) to the Taranis.

You can convert text to voice and download for use in the Taranis @
http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php

And with a little more savvy you can do the same @
http://www.acapela-group.com/text-to...tive-demo.html

A map of Taranis users is @
https://www.google.com/maps/ms?msid=...0fba13f4&msa=0

And you can submit your location as a Taranis owner @
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2020546 and you'll be included on the map.

If that was not enough - there is a thread called "New to Taranis? a collection of URLs to help you get started" @
http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=3537

Notes from Taranis Threads - Q&A and Modifications

Attached is a file containing posts members have made this year on two threads (over 1500 pages). The file is 48 pages of topics that I found useful in answering my own questions.

I'll continue to monitor Taranis threads and as new questions & solutions are developed I will post additional summaries.

Hope you find this useful.

Safe Flying!

Bench testing your R/C system ("telemetry lost")

I would like to add this information provided to me regarding bench testing your R/C system...

Suggested title...
Bench testing your R/C system ("telemetry lost")

Keep the Tx at least a metre from the RX. When they are too close swamping occurs.
It is a feature, not a fault.
It is also mentioned in the Manual, although admittedly not too easy to find.
https://code.google.com/p/opentx/wiki/OpenTx_FrSky_EN

"Note that when the radio and receiver are very close to each other (usually <1m) you may get spurious "telemetry lost" and "telemetry recovered" alarms. This is not a malfunction and will stop when the 2 devices are separated."

P.S. thanks for all your work in providing this resource.

Please try to keep this on topic. Your best bet is to e-mail Wayne at Aloft, he doesn't monitor this thread...

Okay, so I'm weird that I have more posts/page than the default and read backwards with the newest at the top

As another tool I find the Google search superior to the RCG search using the Google format something like :
taranis+battery+mod site:rcgroups.com
http://bit.ly/1dRAFjm
but that still won't take you to the exact post either if you've modified your "Thread Display Options"
The page reference is for THAT document - not the thread.

So Tbolt65... great stuff... thank you.

I assumed the same thing and posted in the main thread. I have my view set to 100 posts/pg. I forgot to scroll too
