Hi John,

That looks really great :-)

One comment from my side, I would prefer to have the pitch servo on the right bottom site and not directly on bottom side, that means at about 4 o'clock position.
I hope my explanation is a bit understandable: rolleyes:

Reason is, with your version the whole vector unit is very long.
If you have a plane with a smaller nose you can not mount that unit.

Thanks Matthias, I understand what you are asking and have look at the options. During the design I played with the angle of the servo in CAD and found I was only gaining about .2500 " on the bottom leg, so I just went with keeping it symmetrical to the centerline. To be honest its not that bad. you need a 1" offset from the center of motor to top of fuse and 1.25" from motor center to bottom to make it work. I will keep this in mind on future designs. I agree it could be a breaking point for some aircraft. Thank you for the input and please post your measurements. I really like your mount you made !! I just try to be different
Thanks
John

Anyone tried these for Mamo Unit control: http://www.soaringusa.com/MKS-DS65K-...tal-Servo.html

Great centering and power for such a small unit. Would make a very solid set-up. Hmmm thinking... I have had a Mamo unit in the drawer for over two years and never used it

How do you guys get your VPP models so light? I have just built my second (first one was a flop as it came out at 185gms)

My new one is milled, servo cases lightened, leads shortened, etc and has come out at 165gms!

I am using futaba 3114 servos and a d47 on pitch. A Scorpion 2503 motor and scorpion 11A esc and a 3s 350mah pack. I fried my 6300rx so put in a lightened 6100.

Not sure how to go lighter. I may replace the servo leads and solder on 36 gauge wire direct soldered to Rx.

Any other ideas??

Hi Alex,
Most of us use 2s batteries so thats 10g saved instantly, that brings in in line with most VPP models at 155g. Your model isnt as heavily milled as the really light VPP models I have seen either. Also Depron Aero is approx 20% lighter than regular depron

Cheers. It is hard being here in NZ to get things like depron or anything for that matter! And local shops are very expensive due to the same reason

This was my last foamy i built, it was milled probably more what you are meaning. It weighed 114g with a 2s 250. But i usually used a bigger battery for more flight time

Tuesday Indoor night (5 min 8 sec)

Foamy Walk (2 min 5 sec)

Which one? The Raven is my design, and the VPP model is a Mobius designed by Marcus Sargent. BEST indoor foamy design I have ever flown and I have flown most of the well known indoor foamies.
