Edit: Meh, something horrible going on with the string encoding, I will look in more detail at the weekend. For now you can us ethe tool to change bitmaps and export strings for different languages
Solution: You have to create a new instance of the UTF7Encoding instead of using the UTF7 property of the Encoding class, with a true parameter in the constructor to allow optional characters!

In VB:
Dim e As New System.Text.UTF7Encoding(True)
e.GetBytes(...)

In C#:
System.Text.UTF7Encoding e = new System.Text.UTF7Encoding(true);
e.GetBytes(...);

Didn't see an answer to my previous question. If I want to add a FrSky system to the Devo12, where would I solder the +,-, and PPM wire on the circuit board? I noticed a positive, negative, and tx pinout on the middle of the back of the board, is it really that easy?

Added additional 5 or 6 close ups of 10mw Devo 8

While I was in again I figured I'd try swapping the RF module from 100mW 7 to 10mW 8 --- not the solution to more power it seems. Must be something in the board making it 'know' it's crippled.

I told you before the trainer port outputs PPM, you will have to do + and - yourself to the power source in whatever manner you want.

Do you happen to know the pin-out on this picture? Is it TX pin?

Which wire set is going to the trainer port? (I am going to guess the black and white ones)

I had emailed Walkera about the update for the Devo 7. I asked how do we update our devo 7 without the ub02 usb to mini cable that the devo 7 update software says is needed. She replied to tell me that the ub02 will be available soon from hobbyone.hk.
You guys with your devo 6, 8, 12 are lucky compared to us devo 7 owners. We get a software update but cant even install it! Is anyone going to start their magic at the devo 7 software?

You could probably put together a DSM2 hack with a DSM2 module from a toy Spectrum radio and some soldering like they have done with the Turnigy 9x.

Note that the channel order might be incorrect but if all you want is to use it with cheap orange receivers as an alternative to the RX801 then this should not be a problem.

Hrm... I have a parkzone TX.... I might have to do some experimenting , question is can the module inside transmit all 8 channels or is it limited to the 4 it's designed for?

Thanks FDR_, I will get on that shortly.

In other news, my ST-Link arrived today, just waiting for the DEVO8 now...

I have a toy HobbyZone DSM2 TX here, gonna rip it to bits and take a look... Yep, its a CYRF6936 (with some additional micro interfacing the CYRF chip to the main MCU via a serial port). Maybe put the LA on that later
