Check that the anti-rotation pin on the swash is still in the slot. Mine slipped out once after a crash and I never even thought to check it. The nano still flew, but it was like a drunken sailor and everything just wanted to wander around. Had to look it over a few times before I finally spotted the problem. Really confusing, but such a simple fix.

Yeah, there's an app for that.

Don't need a new board!!!

Victory, I read in this thread that HH asked someone to unplug the main motor and try it and it worked!!! Just flew 2 batteries on the back porch and this thing is awesome. I have been flying an Msr X and this makes it look like a toy. Super fast but hovers like it is held up by a string, can't wait for tomorrow when it isn't raining.
PS cp is crazy, it freaked me out the first time it dropped 3 feet before I realized I just went into negative pitch, then I was doing it on purpose for fun

Does anyone clean their micro or nano CPX servos once in a while?

I had my first mCPX servo smoke last week when the contact area filled with carbon dust from the track on the board then zipped up to the stop and loaded the motor. I replaced it and sprayed the other two with contact cleaner.

I just unplug the battery and reconnect, it might take a couple of times, but it works. And Pitch-Pumping? Yeah, it can be a little addictive to a cp owner alright.

I think just about everyone who stays with the Msr, Mcpx, Ncpx, or the like has to clean them sooner or later. They become pretty twitchy after a while, or are no longer finding center etc.

You don't have to go through quite as much trouble as this video poster did, as there are a few ways to do this, but here's the basic idea. At 3min in the vid he actually gets to what you need:

P.S. - My Mcpx smoked a servo the day I brought my Nano home, as I flew it while the Nano charged. Like a kid jealous of it's new sibling....

I suppose that's what it takes to keep the micro machines running 100%

I will clean the servos tonite. What was that brand of contact cleaner? Do you just spray the servo with it installed? After spraying will it need some lube or will the lube get on the wiper?

I notice when I move the rudder on the mcpx in Phoenix 4, the mcpx stays still and just turns around its axis while hovering nice.

When I try this at home with my nano, it's all over the place. Is this normal and does Phoenix not simulate that behavior properly or do I have to troubleshoot once more?

Do you have to counter some movement when just applying rudder to keep it steady?

When I apply just a little rudder it's fine but the faster I turn the nano, the bigger the effect is.

Pick up some DeoxIT FaderLube F-series spray. Unlike contact cleaner, F-series is specifically designed to clean, deoxidize, rejuvenate, and protect plastic & carbon resistive strips & wiper-arms. It's pretty much the only thing that's used in the pro-audio industry for cleaning pots & sliders in mixing consoles, etc. I've been using it for decades in high-end home audio & pro-audio gear.

Get it from Sweetwater. They're super-cool & great to deal with: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FaderLubeS/

You just spray it into the output arm slot of the servo & cycle it a number of times. A second application may be required if there is a lot of oxidization and/or debris in the wiper area. That's all there is to it. Do not apply any oil or other lube to the servo.

Also - remember that this won't cure a servo that is truly failing mechanically, but it usually gets rid of the jitters & centering issues that often happen as the servos age, and it prolongs the life of the resistive strip.

Passero,

Do you ever sleep? I see post from all times of day, what time is now in London?

Do you like the Phoenix? I have Real Flight 5.5 and was thinking of phoenix so I can fly the Blade Helis.

I sleep about 7 hours a day yes
It's 14:20 in the UK now. I usually go to bed around 23:30.

I got RealFlight 6 as well and I bought Phoenix 4 just because it had a lot of heli's from blade. Especially the mcpx because it has a similar flying attitude as the nano so I am using the mcpx to train.

In RealFlight there was nothing I could use that resembles the nano. Only big CP heli's which are much more stable and less fast.

RF is good for practicing orientation and basics but it you want to practice more specifics and require a heli that responses like the one you are flying, you need to get Phoenix 4 (in case you want to practice for the nano).

Thanks Joel,

I just ordered some. I'll clean tonight with Q-Tip and use spray when it comes.

Phoenix is doing it wrong. Make sure you turn up the model difficulty in the editor.

When you're in a hover, the helicopter leans to the right a little bit, so when you turn to the right, it's now leaned forward, and you have to remove that and put the right lean back with cyclic input. That is how the real one flies - if the simulator isn't doing that, then a setting is wrong or it's just a bad model.

RealFlight 6 has a drop down with a link to a website where you can download models of hundreds of airplanes and heli's. I downloaded an mCPX file that flies like the real mCPX.
