I haven't had one land in my foot (yet), but I have dodged a few instinctively when I heard the
distinctive sound of an Xacto knife roll off the counter, and have had a couple stick in the floor where my socked foot had been. My best X-acto story started when I was making a really long 45 degree bevel cut in a balsa elevon stock against the side of a 30 inch long straight edge. About halfway, I felt a little extra resistance and realized the blade had intersected the tip of my finger hanging over the edge of the straight edge. It was cutting a flap of skin and flesh about 1/2 inch long and 16th of an inch deep and 5/16ths wide, and I was 2/3rds of the way through that half inch I paused and in the next moment or two I contemplated whether that flap would ever re-attach.. Nah! So I finished the rest of the cut. ![]() Bit of CA fixed it right up, and it healed with almost no scar. Didn't think to get a photo while the blade was halfway through my finger though. ian |
