Don't Tell OSHA,........BUT....

Has this happened to you?......No, don't answer, ....I understand if you are ashamed....

I had my back turned, but as soon as I heard the knife leave the table, in the split second it took for it to travel 42 inches, I thought : "It better not be headed for my foot".....

Then..... OUCH!

Yeah Matin,

I full set of steak knifes slipped off the countertop, right after I brought steaks in from the Bar-B-Que. Caught one knife in each of my Big Toes,.....what are the odds?

Got video?

what strikes me as funny is not the fact we have accidents like this, but how willing we are to share the bloody pictures!

What's even funnier is not that the #11 wound up in his foot, but that he had to take a picture of it to share with us before pulling it out!

When I was a kid I was building a glider on the floor of my parents house on the living room carpet. For some reason I was crouching on the floor holding an Xacto knife when I lost my balance. I dropped the knife and put my right hand out to steady myself. The knife had fallen handle first to the ground and stuck blade up in the carpet, right where I put my hand. The blade stuck all the way through the skin between my thumb and index finger!

I can never find one when I need it. At least you know where yours is.

Seriously, take care of yourself.

I have a good size scar above my knee from slipping with an exacto knife when I was a kid. Cutting balsa cross grain with the balsa sitting on your knee is not a good idea.

LOL- and we all know how long it takes to grab the phone, unlock it, press the camera app, take picture! Knowing matin, the phonewas on the other side of the shop so he had to hobble over to get it!

Funny you said that......Actually the reason I was not facing the table was that I was talking on the phone . This happened as soon as I hung up!.....I had to hobble to the chair to pull the knife out.
The wound wasn't the big deal..... I was impressed how cleanly the #11 sliced through the leather!.....I think it might be because the blade was brand new and still had some oil on it.....

I haven't had one land in my foot (yet), but I have dodged a few instinctively when I heard the
distinctive sound of an Xacto knife roll off the counter, and have had a couple stick in the
floor where my socked foot had been.

My best X-acto story started when I was making a really long 45 degree
bevel cut in a balsa elevon stock against the side of a 30 inch long straight edge.
About halfway, I felt a little extra resistance and realized the blade had intersected the
tip of my finger hanging over the edge of the straight edge. It was cutting a
flap of skin and flesh about 1/2 inch long and 16th of an inch deep and 5/16ths wide,
and I was 2/3rds of the way through that half inch I paused and in the next moment or
two I contemplated whether that flap would ever re-attach..
Nah!
So I finished the rest of the cut.

Bit of CA fixed it right up, and it healed with almost no scar. Didn't think to get a photo
while the blade was halfway through my finger though.

That's one of the reasons I got myself this.No rock'n'roll, blade just clicks in,the edge is holding up good so far.
