I just painted a Tiger Moth 400 with Krylon shortcuts silver metallic. I'm planning on doing some float flying but I'm wondering if I should give it an overcoat of something that will make it a little more waterproof (assuming the Krylon isn't). Would prefer foam safe rattle can. Any suggestions?

I think I'd just test the silver with water on it first, to see if it's really needed.

Sure don't want to add weight if you don't need to.

But if it is, you could spray it with aerosol WBPU

I don't think you really have to do anything, since you've already painted it.
You can buy a spray can of acryllic clear.... but that's going to add some weight.

We need Pat to come in here and give the final verdict. He does a LOT of float flying. ..... OK, here's a picture of my Super Moth. My design.... Wes's build. He cut out every one of those little red squares because I wanted checkerboard and we couldn't find any. I can't keep the rudder or the elevator on it ... they blow off at half throttle! Wings are custom solid foam airfoil with wood stringers inside. No struts needed. I usually pull the landing gear out to fly it. Too much drag... hand launch and so far every landing has been a flat spin into tall weeds.... no damage! Rudder, vertical stab/elevator stab and elevators are made of solid balsa. I can't figure out where my clear bubble canopy is... (?) I'll have to get another one.

Ok, I'm coming over there! This thing will go straight up so fast... it reaches it's 25ft ceiling in less than a second. (I have no idea what I'm talking about...we've never timed it!) But seriously, it will speck out straight up from a takeoff. It's when I put it into a shallow dive to build speed for a pass that the rudder and elevators can't handle the load and they come un hinged.
I never lose them though. They're always attached by the servo rods...

Anyone know of a shop that still has the original Pico Moth for sale? I am thinking about getting back into flight (seriously now) and would like one. White or yellow, doesn't matter, but I want the original style.

Just finished test flying a refurbished Pico Moth. This one is probably about 7 yrs old and was crashed recently by a friend of mine.

Found some new yellow wings and repainted the fuse red. Running a cheap 250 motor on 1000 mah 2s with and APC 9x3.8 prop.

She is flying again as good as ever, and she looks decent again too. Even added some wing wires this time around. Will try to post some pics soon.

Nice to have a Pico in the air again.

There is an awakening inspiration in the wind. My 2003 stock TM is lying wounded from a hangar accident, and all this talk about this venerated plane is nudging me to resurrect it. Of course I have a NIB TM from many years ago, but my first and original deserves to fly the skies again. I am beginning to feel the need to piece it back together and to soar once again ABOVE 25'.

What did you do, step on it? You have to rebuild it. .....

I'm not going to fix the 25ft. moth. The moth that I just bought from Ray is ARF.. just needs a receiver. We'll see about that 25ft then! The really cool part of the deal is, I get the plane with a BL motor in it... and there's another kit in there with it. That will make 5 in my hangar. I think I have a problem. Better call Mothaholics Anonymous!
