Hobbico/Flitework P-38w/retracts

Anyone got anymore info on this? Saw it on a PFD release of 2015 Hobbico products. Supposed to be around 1450mm and fly on 3s battery.......
Looks like a re-make of the j-power platform

Interestingly, while searching for more information on the P38, I noticed several other NEW Flitework models:

Alpha EDF - 720mm wingspan

Midi Corsair - 1200mm wingspan

500 size Bo105 Heli - four bladed scale head

The Corsair has been out for a long time and was sold by Unique Models and also HK sells it as well. The RedBull scheme is only new

Well, that same deal applies to the little Bearcat that is coming soon from Flitework...it is by all appearances the Sky Angel Rare Bear model done up in Red Bull livery.

Does look a lot like the J-Power!
I've got almost 100 flights on mine, love the thing but it took a lot of work to make the retracts sturdy and reliable.
Love the paint scheme.
$299 is pretty steep considering the so-so motors/ESCs/retracts/servos/linkages.

Just saw this in Model Aviation, watched a video then came here to see what the community is saying. Crickets*

No interest? No fun, 4S upgrades being discussed? FMS' P-38 is discontinued, right? Then you have that super- expensive Legend Models P-38, which I'm drooling over, by the way. I'm not sure there is much else out there in the P-38 world. Is the Lightning not pulling a lot of interest or does this release suck it?

It is $229 at Tower at the moment

There are two threads about it. Since it's the same as the old JPower, that old thread might be the most relevant.

Another newer thread/Review for the re-release is here.

It's a so-so plane. An overpriced relic that hasn't been modernized. I'm drooling on that Legend's P-38 as well, but the build thread indicates it's a seriously unreliable airframe that requires 50-70 hours of modding and work. I'm waiting on a model update on that before I bite.

In the meantime, the Flitework P-38 is okay with "some" work. Yank the landing gear doors; at least the front one, since it'll snag relentlessly. Run some carbon fiber here and there. Replace the control rods on the rear with something stiffer. Reinforce the tail; don't rely on just the glue. Stiffen the rudder's; mine already folded, so I put CF through them vertically. Fix the engine nacelles/booms to the main wing better (I ran CF rods right through them like pins so I could dismantle it later). On it goes; but in the end, a nice "lazy" circle-flyer than can do rolls with common 3S 2200's.

I havenít read the thread yet on the LM P-38, just some spot reading in the beginning and end. I wouldnít mind the building/modifying required as long as the airframe isnít a POS considering the price. Having built up a few balsa kits from nothing but sticks and sheet I actually miss my building days with all the foam model releases now. Here I am looking at other planes when I have two I still need to finish and maiden. Itís a sickness
