Like I said, you could, if you want to....

as far as the SYMA x1 goes, is it worth picking up. Like another cheap quad, or should I get something better next like a LAtrax Alias.

The SYMA X1 is a very good entry level Quad. If you are stateside, you could get one from Amazon for about $30 shipped. It is stable and easy to fly. While the hardware is capable, SYMA tames it down with a very mild Tx. Owners with programmable radios could bring the "beast" out of it. It is well liked because it has a low entry fees with high mod potentials. That's what could say in a nut shell. Sorry, to be OT. Please stop by the SYMA X1 thread to say HI. Friendly group of people there you'll find. And we could talk more there.

AFAIK Wltoys changed the prop shaft size to 4mm at newer V959s.

The 5443 have a 3mm bore.

To solve in a clean way that you have to spend $$$, as you'd need:

8x replacement bearings for 3mm shafts
4x 3mm prop shafts
4x 3mm gears

massiveoverkill could help you there.

I have no idea if the props can be adopted with a 4mm drill for a quick'ndirty job, i.e. if the remaining prop hub walls would tolerate that.

I was thinking about heating a 4mm metal rod, and doing it that way. Can't be bothered to buy all that new stuff

First they switch from one protocol to another now switch parts so it is confusing for replacements parts and compatible blades? Has anyone broke a shaft why this change?
I also notice there is no description as in 3mm or 4mm only new and old version. The blades are shown side by side and the different size holes. So how does someone know if they have a new or old version until they buy the part for replacement? Guess they sell more parts that way.

Looking at upgrading the motors for my v959. Any recommendations? I want something to really amp up the speed on it.
