I searched this thread for the pole count, as that is needed for tuning, but didn't find a single mention of it.
So I pulled my Hercules motor open and shot this photo.
The pole count is 12 and the number of bell magnets 14.

I'm having an odd issue with my gimbal. The gimbal itself works fine. I can't get the manual pitch control to work though. I had no problems on my quad using the 2 axis Beholder gimbal. Everything is hooked up the way it should be to NAZA and I have the LD knob on my Futaba 14sg assigned to it.

Instead of adjusting the pitch, it adjusts the roll. I've tried wiring it many different ways with no luck. What am I missing???

I am setting up the TRD Beholder 3-Axis gimbal. According to the markings on the packaging in came with a BaseCam Electronics' AlexMos SimpleBGC controller. It is mounted in an open aluminum case with the 3rd axis auxiliary board stuck at the back (see attached picture).

I mounted it on my quad, balanced the camera and started it up. I worked flawlessly in all three axis but the camera was pointing to around 30 degrees to the left (yaw). I downloaded a GUI program from basecamelectronics.com in order to do some adjustments but I got the message that I need to update the firmware.

I used the AvrdudeR utility to flash 2.0b3 firmware (also downloaded from here http://www.basecamelectronics.com/downloads/8bit/ ). Now the SimpleBGC_GUI reports that the I2C sensor is disconnected and the gimbal shakes like crazy directly after startup.

I get the same messages this guy sees here:

Needless to say the gimbal is useless as it is.

I do have an AVR programmer but the tutorial here
http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/a...rticles_id=402
says I will cause irreversible damage if I refresh bootloader on an AlexMos controller...

According to this
http://www.teamrebeldesign.com/manua...exMos_v.7a.pdf

I need the custom firmware for this particular controller but is not on their site.

Can someone give me the right custom firmware or point me to the right direction.

I have a $300 paperweight here...

Problem solved!

I used Xloader to upload the genuine SimpleBCG.
At the end I always get the message "Upload failed" but the firmware does get flashed actually.

I am running the latest (for 8-bit boards) 2.40b7 firmware and I works like a charm in all 3-axis, including yaw-follow mode and RC controlled pitch.
I just have do a little more tuning to get rid of the last few oscillation I occasionally get on extreme pitch angles (>45 deg.).

Oh I forgot to mention that the GUI reported "sensor disconnected" because I was powering the board only through USB. As soon as the 3S battery is connected the IMU works.

The oscillations where due to the orientation I have my IMU taped to the gimbal. Looking from the to the sensor chip is rotated 90 deg. clockwise (marking dot front-right).
So I on GUI's Basic tab I had to change the Sensor Axis RIGHT from the default X to Y (see attached pic).

I hope this info helps someone in the future...
