1/2a Micro Telemaster is done!

I kit bashed a micro telemaster to accept a norvel .061 AME on a tank mount. I had to move the firewall back almost to the first bulkhead to get it to fit, but if does! The landing gear I bashed, making it a piper cub style gear, with faux airfoiled bungee covers. I still have some electronics to install but the basic build is done. I really want to send this model in to Model Aviation's "Focal Point".

Might put a thin aluminum heat shield (pop can material) behind the exhaust outlet.

I'm way ahead of ya! Exhaust exits through brass tubing out the bottom of the fuse.

Yes I know... The firewall and cheeks are getting fuel proofed tonight.

Awesome. Plane and simple. Last Telemaster I saw was a giant putting overhead at a swapmeet...

Very nice indeed mate... might I ask if there are plans available for the Mini Tele? Wouldn't mind having a crack at it at all, and I do have a .061 hanging around!

I've got a set of plans for the 'Mini Tyro' but would much rather a Telemaster.

Cheers - boingk

It's gonna be a fast little sucker. I hope you'll take your video cam when you fly it. Great work.

It's great to see that Telemaster 400 drawing still passing around. I drew that based on the 40 size plans in '99 or so. Actually, the DXF says 1/29/99.

I need to build one for a Norvel.

Good motor choice William:

Will be almost the same weight as an 1/2A power with more power and the advantage of speed control! The recomended 8X4 prop for two cell pack is more efficient than the small prop used with a .049<.10 glow engine.

Hi there Will, good to see you getting keen on building the little Tele!

I've a few tips on the gear:

1: Get the slightly larger 4.3g servos in that series if you can... they're only a half gram heavier (actual weight) but have a good amount more torque. I find that they are generally a nicer servo than the tiny 3.7g's and at only a very minor penalty in size and weight.

2: The motor seems fine as long as its in the 1500~2000kv range. I would personally fit a Hextronik 24g 1700kv motor and run an MAS 7x5 prop on an 800~1000mAh 3-cell pack. They are good motors that are cheap and run extremely well. Use an 18A ESC and expect good sport performance once you get used to her.

With the gear I listed above you'd easily get 10 minute flight times or more, shortening to 8 minutes if you like a lot of throttle for speed or vertical maneuvers. Thats based on me flying a 15oz / 40" highwing parkflier with the same system.

Any questions just ask, hope that helps!

Cheers - boingk
