Congrats on the maiden Kevin. Hunting season, a gun club or angy neighbours?. If they were shooting at you, they may have to lead you to get ya.

jredz71, nice covering job. Looks like you have the lowest drag as possible, very smooth surface. That will definately help to achieve a high speed. How will you clock your speed? Radar gun, on board logger?

I've seen a few Squall airframes break into the high 100's - I believe all had shaved wings (to make them thinner). As chas wrote - stock wings are just too thick. I believe ApexAero had one that hit 200 mph. Also there's a thread here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1683362

Didn't seem like he was poking fun to me. Annnnnnnnd, even if he was, I'm pretty sure this a hobby. Supposed to be fun.
Best,
Josh

In case anyone might be interested, HobbyPeople has the Squall with Vectored Thrust for $49

http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php...r-fan-esc.html

They are also offering the P3 F-16 for $29 until the end of the month; no idea how long the Squall will be on sale....

Nice! Thanks for the heads-up.
I just bought one...this will be my second attempt. I think I'll leave the VT kit in the box though. I like the Squall for being a good all around delta/sport jet.

Definitely going 70mm this time. My last one was with the original version, stock 64mm 4s setup that self destructed on the second flight.

Sheesh. We're here to have a good time and help eachother out, not demand information and get unplesant with people who don't give you what you're looking for.

Ok... negativity over. Back to Squall!

That's a heavily modded Squall you have there!

The F-16 looks great...but you might be in the wrong thread.

A friends also in the process of building his 3rd Squall; this ones going to be fitted with a Extreme RC 10 blade setup.

Still some life left in these old foamie EDF designs!!!!
Are you running 4s with the HET set up. What speeds do you think you will see. I am buying parts right now and need to pick a fan motor combo that gets my in the 110mph area

Ordering this plane asap is the stock power system worth a damn or should I plan to upgrade? Will a 2650mah fit?

I don't know much about the stock system - I believe it was decent but had a nasty habit of throwing blades occasionally. There is tons of room for a batt. Your 2650 will be fine.

the 4 cell stock system is much better than most , in the 90 mph range w/ a good hi c lipo. as always clearencing and balancing the fan will go a long ways toward long life.

chuck.

So in other words if I want it to be over 100mph I need to make some changes to the power system
