Yeah I have about 15 flights on mine and they only thing that comes down hot is the motor. Which is temping at 115ish. I let it sit for 8-10 minutes and then im back in the air. Having wide open throttle for most of the flight could kill the brick but I'd like to think if your only flying for 5 minutes you'd be ok. I only go up for 5 1/2 minutes and use about 80% throttle most of the time. At least you got a free replacement. Trying shorter flight and keeping the throttle around 75-80%.

This happens at about 60% throttle for 3-4 minutes is the problem. Like I said, the ESC really has no way to cool down from air flow

Not sure what to tell yo, I don't know if cutting into the plane is the best idea or if it'll even help much. I dont know if this was heat related or now but I did recently loose my rudder controll. It no longer works but I'm not too concerned because everything else is still fine plus I'm looking into doing a full brushless conversion soon anyway. Was going to do with the signal converter but for another $40 I can get 3 servos and a new Tx/Rx and be much happier, plus fly longer.

So I just finished flying and tried out the 300. The plane didn't even make it a full two minutes. The same problem happened like the first time the ESC went out. The motor dies but I can still control the elevator / ailerons / rudder. I've had this plane for about 2 months now and have only able to fly it a total of 6 times, each flight no longer than 5 minutes due to this issue. Now this ESC is completely burnt just like the first one. I'm not sure what I need to tell Cox about this.

So the circuit board is visibly burnt? Are you using the stock battery?

I would contact cox/hobbico and see if they'll replace the whole plane if the board is fried. Never happened to me, even when I've had motors burn out.

You can see a smokey black color from where it looks like it puffed out some smoke. It was extremely hot to the touch. This happened to both ESCs. I've sent them an email and we will see what happens.
